We REALLY need Enes to stay healthy

Dumb Bloke

Gobert is a fan favorite sure but he isn't a starter. He's a one way player and a bench specialist a la Jeremy Evans. In the last two games he was minus 20 and minus nine. Utah was dominating OKC thunder in the second quarter until Gobert Replaces Booker. Next thing we know an 8 point lead becomes a deficit within moments.

With Kanter the Jazz have the ability to slow things down, control the tempo. They have the best low post scorer and get a bucket when needed. Thats essential to stop these 14-2 runs we are seeing with one way Rudy.

The least the Jazz can do is to give at least the patience and the time they have given to Enes and others to Rudy. Being a fan favorite comes from firing the team up, getting them onto some solid winning attitude. Rudy does that on occasion. The only flaw I can see in him is his stamina and covering court distance from one rim to the other catching up with the pace. It seems impossible for him to beat these parts because of physical factors, but we shall see.

The talks of Enes being the 3rd big sounds outdated to me. You have 3 different dimensional bigmen, use them according to your opponent's weapons. Is there a strict law in the NBA to start the same person until the end of the season? Change the 5. Surprise them.

Enes staying healthy gives us the chance to have 3 really good offensive rebounders in Favors, Gobert and Kanter. We have lived off the offensive glass in games we have won. I remember someone mentioning that we are playing at one of the slowest paces in the league, and that we've been doing great while doing that. The offensive rebounding has been a big part of that imo.

Booker has played well, and deserves minutes for sure too. But being able to juggle our three best rebounders throughout the game with Booker filling in the gaps feels to be the best strategy. Booker should still get 15 minutes a game or something. Haven't exactly figured out how the math works, but Booker just doesn't bail us out on the offensive glass like our other bigs do, and with below-average 3pt shooting on the team, we really do well on offensive boards (longer rebounds etc)

Dumbest post I've read all year.

Gobert is our #1 asset. You better believe it. Cause he ain't going nowhere.

Gobert is legit. Kanter is a scrub compared to Rudy.

Excited, are we? Well defensively, it is spot on though. But I would pull out the game pace and stamina file again. I bet Enes beats Rudy's Cabernet Sauvignon smelling *** in that part.

Huh?

Game pace?

Rudy gets up and down the floor pretty easily. Doesn't lag behind. Hustles his *** off. Kanter is slow and lumbering.

I'm not sure you can say Kanter has better Stamina.

We are a completely different team when Rudy is on the floor. I watch him constantly when we are on defense. The ground he covers is amazing and he covers guards all the way to the three-point line. He gets his hands on so many passes. There is enough scoring on this team, we need defense and Rudy gives it in spades.

Kanter, on the other hand, can't cover my dead grand mother. Kanter took too many defensive lessons from Big Al. Kanter can't cover 4's or 5's and he is our biggest liability defensively when he is in.

Surprisingly I find Gobert's stamina and speed excellent. He was keeping up with guards on fast breaks after 7 minutes on the court in the OKC game.

I can only watch highlights now and maybe I have watched the wrong highlights so mine is an ignorant opinion. I hope he will be able to keep it up.

Thats what Ive been saying. Snyder needs to use all three bigs situationally.

This isnt a knock on Gobert, he's young energetic and raw. It's just that when he's on the floor the Jazz have a tendency to go threw extended periods of scoring funk. They pass the ball around the perimeter and pound dribble until 6 seconds left then screen for a long two. Why? Because Gobert is a liability who cant pop or roll, or make plays inside. Its 4 on 5 on offense and 6 on 5 on defense when he's in.

Kanter does just fine on defense when the wings arent sieves.

We do not have enough scoring mate this team seems last in the league. We cant afford to have a one way player start. Besides everyone knows this team needs the entire bench healthy just to compete. We need Kanter and hating on him because of a hard on for Gobert is misplaced.

What do you think Kanter is? He's a one way player. And not the good kind, and definitely not at the right position. If there is one thing you want your center to do its protect the rim. Only one or two players can do that. Everyone on the team can be considered a scorer
Only one or two can be your rim protectors.

And you just can't win without rim protection and good defense. Sometimes you can get away with poor rim protection if the rest of your team can play defense, but you still will have a hard time.

Look how desperate the Cavaliers were to get a rim protector. It's basketball 101.

Yep, completely agree. Gobert is one way player and a total scrub, while Kanter is a 3-way player. He plays immense defense, as well as has awesome offensive arsenal... also his bench-warming skills are amazing - he can warm the bench in less than a minute, so he doesn't need to be out of the game for too long. In general we need to play him 44 minutes a game, and get him to the bench only for a minute in each quarter. This way we benefit from his immense defensive and offensive impact, and the bench warmth doesn't suffer either.

Thats a good point but your argument is essentially you have to pick your poison with this team. Thats exactly what I'm saying only use these guys situationally to limit the poison. The Jazz are very bad for stretches with Gobert in (minus 20 minus nine in games where Favors was basically even). We need Kanter in those games and need him big.

What games are you watching? It surely isn't the Jazz. The Jazz are way better with Rudy on the floor. It's undeniable.
