I feel that not enough of you know about Baruch Goldstein

In 1994, American-born Israeli Baruch Goldstein, opened fire on unarmed Palestinian Muslims praying inside the Ibrahimi Mosque, killing 29,wounding 125. Up until then Hamas had refused to attack civilian targets inside Israel, and the change in Hamas' policy was a result of Goldstein's massacre.

In the weeks following the massacre, thousands of Israelis traveled to Goldstein's grave to celebrate Goldstein's actions. Some Hasidim danced and sang around his grave.

We gotta look for nonviolent means to stop terrorism. If one side retaliates, the other side sees itself as retaliating. Violence begets violence.

Sad story. Thanks for sharing. Interestingly I found this while reading about it... " He maintained a strong personal relationship with Rabbi Meir Kahane, the militant Jewish nationalist whose views, regarded by the Israeli government as racist, had caused his party to be banned from the Knesset in 1988. Kahane was assassinated in 1990 by Arab militant El Sayyid Nosair, and Goldstein reportedly swore to take revenge for the killing.
So why all these religious nutcases are acting like satanists and seeking "an eye for an eye"? Why they just can't forgive and move on? Why they can't follow Jesus teachings - "if someone hit you on the cheek, then turn the other cheek"....

Maybe they can't read English?

Not entirely true. In 1993 they perpetrated one of their first car-bomb terrorism acts near Mehola. The car detonated between a civilian and a military bus and killed a civilian bystander in addition to the bomber himself. Between 1987 and 1997 they also perpetrated violence against suspected israeli collaborators and what they considered moral deviants - there are estimations that about 1000 were killed by them in those years, admittedly those were cases of violence against other Palestinians.

But on the larger point you are absolutely right...

Nothing like using the heinous and barbaric actions of one to justify your own heinous and barbaric acts.

Math miracles.

A lot of folks don't believe in God because it just seems so irrational, or doesn't add up.

Like 154 casualties with 140 bullets. It makes no sense. And all these warriors for Allah with no guns, almost as stupid as Mormons with policies against personal weapons in wardhouses. Don't they remember Haun's Mill?

/troll. Couldn't help myself but swing on this sweet pitch.

What is amazing is that with all the bombings Israelis have suffered there aren't more of them going berserk.

I claim to be a Jew like I think the Palestinians really are. Folks who just stayed put and tended their cattle, olives, grapes, and fields while regions extremists fought useless wars for their God and made themselves obnoxious to their statist empire overlords in places like Masada, and just did whatever it took to survive there. . . .

But ji could with just as much truth claim to be a Moslem. However, that is nothing next to my familiy's legends about being descendants of King Georgr, British spies, operating the pub where the British parliamentarians gathered to do their real business. . . .and a whole boatload of patriot American rebels.

Partisan local quarrels have long been the tools for megalomaniacal world-class leverage operations.

We are stupid to line up and take sides and play their game.

Speaking of stupidity, my iPad has a spellcheck/censor program with about one tenth of my vocabulary that regularly "fixes" what I type, replacing legs ate words with moronic substitutes, while leaving a lot of typos in place.

Overall, about as smart as Computer Chess apps. Nowhere near human.

Case in point. I typed "legitimate" and it turned it to " legs ate".

I really wonder, is this some kind of mass psychosis, or do these people truly believe that killing all unbelievers will bring about a better world or some kind of glory after armageddon or something? Or do they really think that non-believers are no better than cattle, to be slaughtered at their whim with no real loss, since they aren't people anyway? Or that you become a "person" worthy of the same rights as other "people" as soon as you accept Islam or something?

I wonder the same thing about subjects such as the rape culture and male-dominated society so prevalent in parts of India and other such countries. Do the men truly believe women have no value other than to glorify or bring pleasure to the male, or that they are truly not "people" like men are, as I have heard is part of the culture? Have they never really spoken to someone of the opposite sex other than to demand what they view as their rights or something? Hell, a 5-minute conversation with a woman should dispel anyone with half a brain of the notion that there is any kind of difference in worth or value as a human being between men and women.

I suppose the same mind-set is what drove slavery as well.

I just can't wrap my brain around that side of these topics for some reason. I cannot change my view of who is people and who isn't. And as a wanna-be writer, I like trying to get inside the head of people with thought processes different from mine, but this one I just cannot fully grasp. I can pretend and guess what such a person might say or do, but I just can't see from that viewpoint at all.

People are people. Right?
