Jazz against Memphis 29 minutes away

This may be it. I think his balls haven't dropped yet.

In that case, he'll probably end up taller than Rudy. We should trade Kanter before the rest of the NBA wise up on this Exum situation.

Jazz played pretty well that half. Got a little lax and sloppy in the 2nd quarter, but overall they are playing pretty well. Memphis clearly isn't ****ing around. They are taking this game seriously.

I can agree with this if we're just talking about the Jazz offensively. Defensively they were embarrassing - the Grizzlies were consistently getting high percentage shots.

I'm kind of getting tired of the "Jazz are playing great defense" narrative. The correct statement is that Rudy Gobert is playing great defense and the rest of the Jazz are playing terrible defense. Over the past two weeks teams have been averaging well above their average points per possession against the Jazz.

Is that so? The last 8 games(2.5 weeks) the Jazz have a DefRtg of 106.7 w/ Rudy on the court. W/o him? 100.3! I love Rudy as much as the next guy but to say the narrative that we are not playing better defense is wrong, is total and upper BS. Disrespectful and unfair to our other players.

Kanter was terrific in the first half. If his teammates could shoot he'd have four assists. Kanter is not a natural passer but he just keeps getting better and better. First he couldn't play defense, so he starts playing defense harder. Now the claim is he can't pass. He comes out tonight making very good passes. You don't trade a kid for a bag of peanuts when he is still getting better and better.

You make a good point good sir. Now I demand a better overall IQ and a better haircut.

106.7 would be good for 28th in the NBA. It's not even average - it's terrible.

What do you expect? Are the Jazz normally a good defensive team? Memphis is really good and are making three, four, five + passes sometimes that lead to a bucket. That will kill many defenses, especially one as weak as the Jazz defense. They are getting schooled, but they are competing. That's what I'm talking about mostly.

Memphis is also really doing a nice job taking advantage of Jazz offensive miscues too. Seems like anytime the Jazz turn it over or take bad shots, Memphis is running down and getting easy buckets. Those are on poor offensive execution most of the time.

Bottomline is they are competing well, and just getting schooled by a smarter, more experienced team.

I always read the game thread expecting to see the Jazz down 20 at any given moment and am almost always pleasantly surprised to see them within single digits or ahead in a game that they really shouldn't be competitive in.

Grizzlies are one of the top teams in the league, and the Jazz have a combination of Jingles, Lil'Sap and Patrick Christoper. . . er. . . I mean Elliot Williams. . . or. . . (who the Hell is it now? Oh yeah. . .) Chris Johnson playing wing along with Hayward. Plus the PG combo of Trey "Shoots-Too-Much-Makes-Too-Little-(and-Sucks-at-Defense)" Burke and Dante "Quit-Being-A-Semi-Dangerous-Fawn-Deer-And-Just-Kill-Someone-to-Wear-Their-Pelt" Exum.

I'm pretty happy with how Enes Kanter has been playing lately and am growing more and more comfortable with the Jazz just trying to stay strong inside and bring him back next year instead of making a splash in free agency. Still think he will get an offer that most fans will freak out about (except oddly enough, freakazoid - go figure) and we will have a multitude of "Should the Jazz match Kanter's offer?" threads for Dal to bump up and laugh about this time next year. . .

Hopefully the Jazz finish this game strong and look good - win or lose. That's all I'm asking for at this point. To be competitive. Winning consistently comes with better talent, a deeper bench and more experience.

Not really but tonight they've been very lazy on rotations and have gotten burned on backdoor cuts multiple times because of players not paying attention to their man.

And they are also playing a better, more experienced team with a big man who is an exceptional passer. Memphis is simply better so they'll make the Jazz look bad more than the Jazz make Memphis look bad.
