I would rather see what the RFA market is for him in the off season. It might be a humbling experience for him and Utah could always match or let him walk.

DL is going to make something happen. He won't be on his ez chair playing backgammon like KOC was at trade deadlines.

He'll just sign the QO at that point and play towards UFA in 2016. If much rather see what the RFA market for Khris Middleton is instead.

What happened to this guy? The spin moves. The aggressive rebounding. The finger roll. He was 17 years old. This was against Kyrie Irving, Brandon Knight, Terrance Jones, Meyers Leonard, Jared Sullinger, and Harrison Barnes. He went to the line 9 times. He had 8 offensive rebounds. Make your strengths better. Don't lose weight and shoot from long range trying to be a power forward.

DL should carry this clip around on bargaining. Maybe it does the trick it did to the Jazz.

Questions on those:
1. Isaiah Thomas - what do we do with Burke? When you can get a good player you don't worry about what happens to your crappy players.
2. Goran Dragic - what do we do when he bolts in the summer(he's said he will test free agency and there is already a rumor that the lakers will max him at 80M for 4 years)? We have about a third of a season to convince him that we are building something special here and he can be the starting PG of a contending team within a year or two. (and we match any kind of FA offer he gets.)If it doesn't work than we'd be losing Kanter anyway, worth the risk IMO.
3. Kris Middleton - (I don't think Milwaukee does it, since he's one of the best 3 and D guys in the league, but if they do it...) how much do we match in the summer(he's a RFA)?Match pretty much any offer than he would realistically get, with the cap going up no matter what he gets, it will be doable.

KOC made as many deals as most other GM's. Some minor, plus the big Deron trade. The Al Jefferson deal was also set up at the previous deadline; the one hangup being that Minnesota demanded an additional first, which KOC managed to obtain. I'd much rather have NO deal made than one which limits the team's ability to do other deals. Even minor stuff, like acquiring Novak. May not seem significant right now, but that extra year could hinder Utah's ability to spend max dollars this summer. And all we got out of tieing up cap space was a 2nd-round pick. Now I'll take back what I said if Novak can be dealt to a contender before Thursday.

I think the chance of trading Kanter is less than 50%. Based on what Ergul has said, teams know he's likely to just sign a QO - or they'd have to overpay by a TON to get him to sign a 4yr deal. I just don't see teams giving up a decent asset to acquire him.

He did not make any calls himself about Deron. The offer was brought to him by Billy King of the Nets and it was so good he couldn't pass it up.
DL is probably wheeling and dealing as we speak.

Pretty much agree. Definitely excited about the possibility of trading Kanter but I don't buy any of these tweets. As long suffering trade deadline Jazz fans, I think we all know that The Jazz FO taking calls is one thing - actually making a move is something entirely different.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Not entirely true. The initial call was about AK. KOC then asked King if he was interested in any other player on the Jazz. It was a very skillful leading question designed to let King make the first offer. And you can bet NJ was not the only team KOC contacted. Because Utah wants absolute discretion, we rarely hear rumors. Remember the pre-season deal involving AK that fell apart? KOC went BALLISTIC when that leaked!

The Jazz also don't buy draft picks, but they've gotten themselves a potential defensive stud and franchise center by doing exactly that. I think DL likes to be a lot more aggressive than KOC.

KOC was pretty aggressive in trading up for Deron. KOC did most of his building via free agency and trades (Memo, Boozer, Jefferson, etc.). DL is going young via the draft. Completely different, but both valid approaches: DL's approach just takes longer and has more risk.

I don't disagree with this at all, and I think that the trade for Deron ended up pretty well for the Jazz (with the potential to get better or worse based on what they get for Kanter).

DL understands you need a rim protector to be an elite team in the league, KOC didn't. He made the gamble on Gobert, and it looks like its going to pay huge dividends. KOC didn't have the nads to make such a gamble until the window was closed for us. He got Favors, but it was too late...
