Kanter traded to OKC

And the Gobert trade honestly can't be understated. That's the sort of move that gets GMs hired. That trade probably sped up our rebuild by 1-2 years single handedly

Getting rid of Millsap, Al and Kanter is fine. What they received in return for those players is underwhelming at best.

Maybe he knew that what we could have got for those guys would have just been more middle of the pack type guys that would just keep us on the treadmill and instead he wanted for us to suck for a few years hoping to land a superstar with a very high lottery pick.

In other words, maybe he got very little for sap, jeffy, and enes on purpose thinking that it might be better to suck bad for a few years instead of pick up some decent dudes and remain in the 8th seed year after year

I would counter by saying even more than 1-2 years. Gobert added another dimension that only 5 or so teams have in the whole league... and he might be better at it than them!

Yeah. Says the guy who has the same reaction anyone ever starts a conversation with him. If you quit acting like a dick and telling everyone to go eff themselves you might be a lot happier.

Sorry I didn't realize that you being not as high on exum and Gobert didn't mean you don't like them? Pretty ambiguous argument. If you like them, why say you are not as high on them? Why not just say you like them? Or that they will be ok players.

My main argument here is that I think the front office of the Jazz is doing a good job, and you don't. No need to be a dick about it.

I don't see why anyone would be that high on Exum.

Missing on Ante but killing it with Gobert makes him a Bronzie? It's a roll of the dice and you are way overstating the value of DL in drafting Gobert.

His judgement is highly questionable at this point. Don't understand why so many are getting up in arms that some don't like this trade.

I'm happy to do so with with posters who are more interested in discussing the Jazz than in attacking my credibility.

Because my relative evaluation of those two players is what's most important in my overall evaluation of DL as a GM.

The bulk of your post was a personal attack. I don't see much of an argument in support of DL. Did I just miss it? What exactly do you like about this trade and DL as GM? Which of my opinions do you disagree with? Why?

Maybe he could have kicked the can down the road like he did with this trade, and acquired some future picks. Of course, maybe that wasn't available. I don't know. What I do know is that he got very little for a now two-time all-star, a fringe all-star, and a decent young controllable (RFA) player (and Carroll).

1) Gobert > GF
2) it's a high-stakes roll when you're asking your small-market owner to shell out 2 million dollars for a ****ing 27th pick. Drop the Contrarian-BS and give credit where it's due. It was balls-to-the-wall, and he ****ing nailed it like the stud he is.

Agree to disagree

I agree that he got very little for them. I think that it could be for the best though

Credit to Greg Miller, whose awesome.

OKC didn't wanna even dip into luxury tax to pick up Pleiss this year. Dennis puts his job on the line regularly by asking Greg to ramp up spending in non-mandatory areas, and Greg has the faith in DL to do it

I think we underestimate how hard it is to be good in this league. We were spoiled with Sloan and annual playoff appearances. I mean I was happy that we went to a rebuild I thought it was our only chance to actually win the big one. Well it's been half a decade and we don't even have a top 20 player in the league. Let alone a superstar who can lead us to a championship. At best we have a guy who can be a defensive anchor on a championship team.
I'm not complaining or anything. I'm just saying that I underestimated how hard it would be to get back to the top half of the conference. At this point I would gladly go back to being what we were before.

Definitely like b_line, just always skeptical when the troll crew comes out of the woodworks with obvious targeting of serious posters.

I get this. But my problem is every time I read s post of gvc all I see is: "I hate the way dennis Lindsay runs this team and I refuse to see any move he makes objectively"

That is my agenda. I did not contact any other posters about this. I am not part of a troll crew. I have had a problem with gvc being a dick since I ioined the board. He is a smart dude, but if anyone disagrees with him, he feels the need to belittle them and act like he is part of an elite smart crew. Whatever. Usually I don't care, but today I thought the trade made some sense because kanter sucks balls, and we actually got something for him. I read like ten of gvc's posts and got sick of it. That's all.
