Following Potential 2018 Draftees

Can someone explain to me why the Okobo Love is running so rampant on jazzfanz? Some of you are already preparing his HOF speach for him.

Someone enlighten me.
We like him as a player? Advanced offensive creation, shooting well both off the dribble and on the catch. Great handles. Great poise and pace to his game, good decision-making and passing, advanced and versatile reads off the PnR. His offensive game and potential is at a VERY high level. i hate his defensive effort but I would gamble on the offensive polish.

I've heard Spellman's name a bit. Just looking at his numbers now. Wow. Is he a legit PF? Dynamite rebounder and shooting 43.3% from three on 3.8 attempts. And a freshman. Geez. Gotta look at some videos on this guy.

He's a former fatbody with nimble feet but, if he's a legit PF wll be something he'll need to prove.

He's heavy-footed, but he's a smart player and I like his shooting form more than the top-of-the-lottery guys. One of his "negatives" is that he hasn't played as much for a guy his age, but I don't see how that isn't a plus considering how he feels the game.

So he's 21 and played one year. What was he doing before that?

PG_AB was such a popular poster here that when he pointed him out as the 37th best 1998 born international prospect on DX's list a year ago, the thread caught wind and there's been a clamoring for Okobo ever since. Reports of his stock rising recently have only further reinforced this.

The NCAA (wrongly) ruled him ineligible for his freshman season. He'd have made a huge impact on that 2016-2017 Nova team too, obviously they won the championship the next year with him and many of the same pieces.

I do know you are PG_AB, and I knew there was a reason I wasn’t all that impressed with him.

I don’t hate him, but he’s not as good as some are making him out to be.

So we pass on Troy Brown and Jerome Robinson to draft a 6'0", 3rd-year, ball-dominant PG? Is Holiday really that much better than Brunson for that matter? I like Okogie much more than Holiday.

All of this. As for the bold part, I vote;

6'6 wingspan and 8'1 standing reach aka the exact measurements of Trey Burke. Think before you respond next time.

Donte D had almost the exact same height, wingspan, reach, weight, everything as Jrue Holiday did in 2009. Jrue Holiday is a max contract player, one of the best perimeter defenders in the league and is key on one of the best teams in the league.

Jrue Holiday actually only had a 34 inch vertical. And oh yeah, Burke had a 36.5 inch vertical and he is a few inches shorter than Donte who had a 42 inch vertical at the combine.

Think before you make an assumption about everything.

Holiday also gets his 5th foul in this game on a blatant push off and UCLA and jackass alford are barking at the ref, when it was an epic blunder

Aaron Holiday is usually calm cool and collected, but the nature of that meltdown worries me. I'd compare it to like when some foreign up and coming boxer goes to Vegas or some big stage, or some well know fighters hometown, and their undefeated but never fought good competition and panic... Like what Errol Spence did to that mexican kid this weekend....

He had 10 turnovers in their biggest game of the season and also he was matched up against St. Bonnies best player, Jaylen Adams who was scalding hot all game,

I think the FT qualm is that he shot 70.5%. This is below average for a guard and it is a strong indicator that he won't be a great 3 pt shooter in the league.

Stats are getting over analyzed. There isn't always a direct correlation between free throw shooting and 3 point shooting. For example, Shane Battier was always known as a knock down three point shooter. For his career, he shot 39% from 3. From the free throw line, he only shot 75%.

Bruce Bowen shot 39% from 3 and less than 60% from the free throw line.

Chandler Parsons 38% from 3, 72% from the free throw line.

JR Smith - lifetime 37.5% from 3 and only 73% from FT.

Donte shot 2.7 free throws a game. In other words, if he played 4 games, he missed less than a free throw per game.

So... you agree with the statement that Brunson might be a better prospect than Holiday?
I prefer Brunson. He's the safer bet. I could see the argument that Holiday has more upside or a better chance at starting, certainly has more potential as a defender, but I look at these 2 players thru the lens of Backup PG and Brunson has this wise old vet Andre Miller type of way about him, so he's a safe in-range (not a reach) pick imo..

I always liked Aaron Holiday though if you look back thru the years I've had him in the mocks, last szn he got very little respect cuz he came off the bench but he had awesome stats.

What does vertical have to do with anything?

Jrue Holiday's Standing Reach was 8'4.5" at the draft. He was also drafted at approximately 19 years of age.

Donte D. measured 8'1.5" at age 21.

That is a significant difference, just about the average different between SG's and PG's. In other words holiday has the size to guard 2's and I don't believe Donte can.
