DL and Rubio have some overlap in the Venm diagram, but the reason both those guys are mentioned in the same sentence is because Dennis dangled Rubio for two weeks and was met with an expiring deadline. He tried to take credit for choosing chemistry, but he wasn’t choosing anything. The offer was on the table the whole time and the deadline passing without Memphis saying “yes” is what made the decision to “value chemistry.”

This is true, but it is debatable whether Mitchell would have become what he has if Hayward had been here.
It’s certainly debatable, but for me nothing Hayward has ever done has shown me he’s that alpha that would put a rookie in their place. I think Mitchell would have rode right over him.
Oh well, onto bigger and better.

Joe Johnson putting away the Clippers was one of my favorite recent Jazz memories. Well worth whatever we paid. Also, off court Diaw was pretty cool as well.

I actually was keeping track on how many games JJ won us that year. It was close to 9-10 including the Clippers game. He was very clutch for us that year

Joe Jesus was a ****ing star for the Jazz that first season. Too bad he got hurt in a larger role and it made more sense to trade him than it did to keep him.

Nobody thinks Hayward is that alpha that would put a rookie in his place. At least not anymore. I think the main presumption is that there would have been some silence, pouting, and vague distortion. And I don't think there's any question that Hayward's absence made things easier on Mitchell: the void was glaring, and we were ready to adapt to however he was able to fill it. This is not the case if Haywood were still on the team.
But, yeah, over this.
I wish I was a Jazz man. Hell, y’all have called me one enough that I’ll take the league minimum and warm that bench like it’s never been warmed before. Y’all need someone to hammer fist a dude driving to the rim? I’m down.

It's more of what Hayward himself traded in. He traded in having his number retired here, a system that clearly brought out the best in him, great team chemistry/atmosphere, and a fan base that begged him to stay....for a team that clearly doesn't enjoy each other, a fan base that now almost hates him, and very strange role/fit on a team.

It was a mistake, but it was his mistake to make. I agree with you. If he would have left on good terms, glowing about the team, fans, and Gail for example, I would have wished him well. A little sad, because we all did honestly want him back, but okay with his career choice to make. He played with us, and then gave us that bizarre tribute piece which was more of a love letter to himself and Brad.
I hope he has learned a valuable lesson in life. At least he has millions, and a beautiful wife (unlike the rest of us) to wallow in.

Even before the ****ing move to boston I was confused at how the **** a guy of his caliber was worth 30 ****ing mil.
That contract is an absolute abomination.
People also keep forgetting hayward was as unclutch as it gets for the jaZz. **** emaelf off a sandwich one game vs the clippers and then people tend to forget that the skeleton remains of JJs is what powered the jazz through vs the clippers in r1, not hayward. He was good but JJ was clutch in moments hayward would always vanish. Game on the line? Hahwyad was snapped into dust by thanos.
