What's new

Non jazz 2019 playoff discussion.

Jazz are developing Niang. They needed to free up minutes for him and having a salty vet next to him wasn't going to help.

Niang averaged 3.6 minutes per game 17-18 season, playing in 9 games when we had Jerebko.
Without Jerebko, Niang's playing time went up to a whopping 8.7 minutes per game.
What are you talking about? If they were concerned about playing time for Niang, they would've looked at removing useless Ekpe Udoh from the lineup. 32 years old and hasn't came close to averaging 5 pts per game over his last 5 seasons. If they really wanted to give Niang minutes, there is plenty of options besides weakening the strength of the bench.

U dumb as hell

Jerebko is a good player for the money. The Jazz could've kept Jerebko and signed Niang for depth. (What we were missing when we got blown out). Jerebko signed for $2.1 mil and we got Niang for $1.5 mil. Not exactly mountain moving decisions on our end. But we signed Niang, who we didn't use in the playoffs and lost. Not saying it was Niang's fault, but lets not pat DL on the back so hard like he made a "one or the other" decision, picked and won. When the Jazz are not willing to pay $2 million dollars to keep a valuable bench piece on the team, but a multi-championship winning team like the Warriors are willing to recognize a small opportunity that we never noticed. It's not exactly bragging rights for us Jazz fans. You can say, "we'll its just Jerebko". Championship teams realize that every member is an important part. The Jazz are still trying to figure out how to be competitive while other teams are still playing in the Finals. (Like the team that signed Jerebko). We need to want and expect more out of our team until we get to that level.
The Jazz were never left with the option of taking Niang over Jerebko. Never. Neither of them makes over $4 mil combined. Why are we giving up bench depth over $2 mil a year is the real question.

You are missing half of the story. It was reported Jerebko was unhappy with his role/minutes on the team. Why bring back a disgruntled player?. And the cost for the team wasn't 2 million like you are trying to portrait. We didn't pick up his option for 4M. Quite a difference for an end of the bench player. And his production could be easily replaced. Remember: he became unplayable during the Rockets series. He is being exposed against the Raptors too.

Niang is a decent prospect. He can make plays besides shooting. Jerebko couldn't. Keeping Thabo instead of Jerebko is a real argument. The thing was that Thabo at least could defend on the perimeter.

As does Thabo and Niang. I don’t want to see any of them on the roster next year. Can’t we replace those 3 deadbeats with just a decent rotation player?
I would love to get Tucker for Thabo and Niang and I would even throw Exum in. Tucker is a guy you hate on other team but love when he is on your team. No nonsense defender, bruiser and hits 3's at great rate.

The end of the Warriors comes thanks to the Canadians. Wow! Maybe!?

Unless GSW pulls their heads out, this could finally mark the end of their dynasty.

About time.
Yep.

If they only get 3 titles out of that roster, gotta be disappointing. 4 all stars in their primes for 3 years. 3 for 5 years. Two of the top 5 players. 3 of the top 15. 4 of the top 25.

They got to beat an injured Cavs team (2015) and an overachieving terrible Cavs team (2018). Their only legit title might be 2017 when Kyrie was healthy.

I would take three titles.

Will be interesting to see what Leonard does this offseason.
