What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

The problem is that if we trade Exum to get Love, we are really, really short at pg. You have Neto, who we have probably sacrificed along with Rubio for capspace, and nothing. You can say Spida is the point guard, but you would hope he wouldn't play 100% of his minutes there. Moving him puts us thin at the SG as well. You are depending a LOT on Royce.

Now if trading for Love puts us over the cap and gives us the full MLE to spend on Beverly (who we promise the starter role to, which would be the draw for him) we might be in business.

The only thing I am sure of is that the people who say that they would not complain if we swung for the fences and missed are most certainly lying through their teeth. That was what freaking Exum was!
If you trade Exum and Favors for Love, it allows you to operate above the cap and use the MLE. You also have the ability to bring back Rubio and use the MLE. Now, I’m not saying this is a better option than signing Harris, but using capspace to sign someone is what really handcuffs us.

We can't be more handcuffed than we were last season where we went long stretches without a true point guard because our roster was full and mgt wouldn't waive anyone.

Bah, not having a point guard wasn't even in the top 3 of our problems. . .

It has been the problem for longer than a decade. That problem has defined our team since Deron was traded.
lol

It has defined our team? Mate, pump the brakes on the hyperbole. Holy ****.

As far as the PG issue is concerned; that’s not the major issue with acquiring Kevin Love. It’s that he’s old, injury plagued, and owed a bajillion dollars.

Of course he was swinging for the fences. Everyone knew he was years away. Trading for George Hill was "swinging for the fences." Trading up to draft Trey Burke was "swinging for the fences." Getting the point guard Haywood wanted despite not knowing if he would stay was "Swinging for the fences." Dropping established vets to fully commit to the rebuild under Tyrone Corbin. . . yadda, yadda, yadda. Almost everything people complain about.

To be fair, Moving in the draft to get Gobert and Mitchell were also "Swinging for the fences." Those swings worked out.

Nah, exum was the obvious pick whom almost every team in the nba would have taken at 5.

I hated the pick at the time btw but he was who was left of the top 5 prospects.

1.Exum+pick Utah x TJ Warren.
2. Beverley 20x2.
3.Mirotic 30x2.
4. Noel 16x2.

Beverley-Mitchell-Ingles-Mirotic-Gobert.
Neto-O'Neale-Niang-TJ Warren-Noel.

I mean, I hated the pick too, but I wanted Stauskas so I really shouldn't talk.

Hindsight is 20/20, obviously, but Šarić and Bogdanović would've been nice right about now.

Could argue that we’d be better off having taken Stauskas. I doubt we’d be on the hook for $20+ more million of Stauskas.

Stauskus?! Stuskus?!

Jusy wana say...watch hhwood get traded fo the grizz for conley...

If Kyrie leaves, that's a good trade for Boston.

I still don't think Boston and Stevens have given up on Hayward yet though.

Hayward will be much improved this year. My point of reference is Paul George his second year back. That injury is brutal and it takes time to heal from that. Even mentally.

Removin bustum from this team this off-season is a success. I don't give a crap what the Dante homers on this board think , they should get traded with him for Conley lol

Taken from the Cavs forum regarding the K Love pic. Take it for what its worth.

Kevin Love would be a tremendous fit in Utah next to Gobert and Mitchell. Tremendous.

He's the perfect complement offensively to take them to the next level--even work some offense through him. Meanwhile, they have the system and personnel to completely mitigate his issues defensively. It's hard to find a better basketball fit for Kevin, really

He's probably right AND trying to build up his value all at the same time.

Other than the injury plagued season from George Hill, we have never had above average play from the point guard spot since that time, most years it has been perfectly terrible. We have chased a point guard with pick after pick with nothing to show for it. Donovan as the lone "PG" on the roster would be a disaster, even if he can handle the job at times. Whatever plan the Jazz have for a FA, there better be a plan for a real PG.

Whatever, still not giving up anything of worth for him.

Yeah jazz trade for love. Let Dante and favs get traded together. That would be great for their careers. Better opportunity
