What's new

Happy Birthday Exum

You mean that Alec Burks that couldn't get on the court for the kings last year? Cool bro.
And i don't trash Exum for injuries and didn't say its good to trash him for that. I just said that the front office gets blamed for his contract. Which was my entire point. That poster was saying that we blame exum for agreeing to the contact he was offered or something.

Do better

P.S. I never said Exum gets hurt on propose. I don't mind if you don't agree with me, but please don't purposefully change my words.

I didn't say you did any of those things Fishie. It was a post to the general public. I think trashing Exum for getting hurt a lot is weak. It can explain why you don't bring him back, but people take it too far. Again, not specifically referencing you.

The only part of my post that was directed at you was me saying I don't think he sucks. Because he doesn't suck. He hasn't lived up to expectations, but he doesn't suck.

Thanks for the measured post. I appreciate it.
As for Exum sucking or not i guess we can agree to disagree. His offensive stats are about as bad as possible. I do think he is a good defender and fast as **** though.

And though his injuries are not his fault i do think its fair to take them into consideration when determining what type of player/asset he is and determining his value to the utah jazz.

I'd also like to point out, every team has at least one bad contract, every team (even if it was one a team traded for to get draft picks). I'm not even saying Exum's contract is bad BUT most people are and are also seemingly hiding behind that to rationalize the insistent teasing, bashing or whatever they want to call it. However the fact that it is only 9mil per year is not bad the salary cap is roughly what 110mil (luxary tax about $132 million) and the Jazz' "bad" contract is taking up 9mil of that, I'd say that's relatively good when put into perspective of other teams and how little of the cap it is actually taking.

I also believe with the current roster it is a good risk/reward based decision, he is something the Jazz different then most of the Jazz roster in what he can bring. Yes I get that you have to be healthy to provide it and too get better that is not lost on me and last year was the first season I started to get frustrated and disappointed myself because the type of injuries weren't like the serious yet fluky injuries he suffered before.

So I get wanting to maximize the cap space especially on a team and market like the Jazz as they need to squeeze every drop from the lemon in hopes to be on the same competitiveness as the big market destinations. Even more so that during this time of FA season is the best time to complain about the contract as it could be used to sign another player but again that's what every other team is dealing with as well.

I don’t think it’s the Exum bashing as much as the 10 mil that could have signed a decent player in a year where you need a super team or close to win it all. I see both sides of the Exum subject because he can really help or hurt us this year

That's almost a passing grade in apologetics. I give it D-. Exum sucks on both sides of the court and shouldn't have been given that contract.

It was a bad contract, 2 years would have been OK but the 3rd year guaranteed made it a bad contract. Its not Exum's fault to want to get paid as much given his injury history. It is what is. Ill root for Exum to turn things around because I believed in his potential and still do, but its just that until he can play a healthy season.

The worst part of the contract is not getting a team option for a 4th year.

No one can predict injuries. That just happens, it's a part of sports.

Donovan is 52ish games away from playing more games than Exum. Exum has been in the league since 2014. He averages playing 30 games per year in the last 4 years. With career averages of 5 points per game, 2 assists, 1 rebound, and 1 turnover. 10 million a year

Right. Because he got injured on purpose. Totally makes sense to trash a guy bc he gets hurt.

And fwiw, Exum doesn't suck. He's a better basketball player than say, Alec Burks, for example.

Actually Burks helped us win a playoff series with his vital contributions, albeit one, Exum has never did that, just saying
