We need a backup Center

If that’s the best then we’re doomed.

Bradley needs to be effective as a backup. But he’s not athletic enough to be in the NBA. Way too slow and has no vertical. He’s not a threat to score and he’s consistently the worst defender on the floor due to his lack of athleticism. His only serviceable skill is screen setting. But that doesn’t warrant him any playing time.
He had his shot blocked a couple times... to be fair Jaxson Hayes is an elite athlete so it’s not a fantastic matchup.

It’s time for Juwan Morgan. Try it now before the deadline.

Or you could just bring in a better backup center. And before you start in, I realize they won't be as good as Rudy, EVERYONE realizes that. Rudy is one of the most unique players in the league, no one expects our backup centers to be able to be able to provide what he does. There are however many backups throughout the league that could give us more than what Davis and Bradley have so far. Acquiring one is going to be the tricky part with our lack of assets but I believe the front office will do everything they can.
i'm perfectly fine with what bradley's given us so far. issue isn't with the backup center. either bring in more defensive pieces at other positions so your center won't have to work his *** off on basically every defensive possession. or again, bring in more offensive weapons and switch your focus to offense. what bradley's done for us in those two games when rudy was out showed that he's perfectly fine as our backup center when we have established gameplan/role for him on offense.

Guys I’d prefer in a sort-of order who are less gettable:

1. Baynes.
2. Meyers Leonard.
3. Olynyk.
4. WCS.
5. Christian Wood.
6. The Property Brother from Charlotte.

Guys I’d rather take who are available from the scrap heap:

1. Bogut.
2. Noah.
3. Udoh.
4. Withey.
5. Boom Bitches.
6. Gortat.
7. Fesenko.
8. Trevor Booker.
9. Faried.
10. Willie Reed.

Guys I’d rather have that we need to take a quick look at on the waiver where before signing (and by quick, I mean long enough to pull a pen out of your pocket):

1. Biyombo.
2. Tyson Chandler.

Guys on our roster I’d rather give a shot/burn to as the backup 5:

1. Morgan.
2. Davis.

That’s 20 dudes.

There are some solid bigs on my rec league team... I can ask if they have time for a practice or two.

I think a PF who is a better rebounder/defender than Georges Niang is a bigger priority. You put a decent shot-blocking 4 next to Tony Bradley, and he looks tons better all of a sudden. If Niang isn't hitting his 3 pointers, he isn't giving us much else.

Of course, if Baynes is available you get him without a doubt.

agree. i was hoping Ed could play next to rudy to start the season but he was too unskilled to do it even though he's built like a PF.

18 out of those 20 dudes are not better than Bradley and 12 of them are not even real NBA players. Your hate for TB is so unwarranted that it's getting ridiculous. The guy literally just had a solid game versus nets two nights ago. And I'm sure not many guys in the league right now can just come in, score a Ortg of 191 and help you lead by double digits during majority of a game against the best team in the NBA.

I think fifteen years ago Bradley would be more than fine, but the way the game is officiated nowadays makes it very hard on centers. Any real physicality is not allowed, thus, in order to protect the paint, centers must have an unlikely combination of lenght and athleticism. Most centers today, even the league starters, are simply not up to this task. And if the starters are not up to the task, what one can say about the back-ups? I really cannot think of any current back-up in the league that could sub in for Gobert and we would go "Woohoo! No problem!"

Some posters here are clearly Favors' widows, but the fact is that he is not available. Besides, he is also payed as a starter, not as a back-up.

We sort that problem by the numbers. Bring in better perimeter defenders who could stop opponents from penetrating into the paint easily on almost every possession would be a good start. I'd also give Brantley some burn at PF. He has some rebounding/hustling potential who could also help reduce the load on our center. Just wish Brantley’s G league skills could translate somewhat to the NBA then we’d be looking at a player that we wished Ed could be when we signed him in the summer.

I agree. My dream addition would be a though and quick-footed 6'7 or 6'8 guy who could be put on perimeter scorers like Ingram and actually bother the guy a bit. This guy would not need to be a good scorer or shooter. I really mean someone who would be used 5 to 10 minutes a night just to take the opposition's best perimeter scoring option off their rhythm

Yeah... Said it during game thread that it truly concerns me the way we were defending Ingram... As hot as he was tonight, he really is just a poor man version of KD, Kawhi, Giannis. We gotta find better solutions than a 6'4 Royce Oneale for those guys comes playoffs...

Bradley is coming along. But he isnt there yet and we are in win now mode so I think we need Davis to wake up or trade him for Baynes or a Robin Lopez type.

The time of Juwan Morgan is nigh!

Or the return of Ed Davis. I am kinda hopeful.

There are probably 15 centers starting in the league that would be such a drop off from Gobert that it would feel like we needed someone else. Gobert is really good. There aren't many backup C that can come in and make us forget he's not in there.

You got all of that from, "we need a backup center"?
Pretty obvious that White Chocolate wasn't saying that we need to find someone off the bench that makes everyone forget about Gobert. Also pretty obvious that he wasn't slamming Goberts efforts. Also pretty obvious that our current backup Center (Tony Bradley) is far from the right guy to back up Gobert and White Chocolate is absolutely right. I'm aware that this has been said over and over again, but we have to do something if we're going to contend. Bradley is a glaring weakness with our 2nd unit.
