The Official "Let's Vote Trump Out" Thread!

Right. And for what? What was gained? At least Obama rescued our economy from free fall. Deficit spending was warranted then. Republicans pretend that 2007-2008 didn’t happen. Who was president then? They act as if history began Jan 2009.

The Trump economy isn’t an improvement over the Obama economy. It’s just a continuation of it. And Obama did it without giving tax cuts and exploding the deficit.

Obama deficits were bad. Very bad. Tea Party Bad.

Bigly Trump deficits are good because because Trump is awesome.

Nothing to offer? If you don’t think Democrats have anything to offer regarding the biggest issues of our day: health care, climate change, education, then it’s safe to say you need to do more research. You might not agree with them. But to say that they’re not offering anything is incredibly ignorant.
How many voters really read election platforms? They generally look for strong, charismatic or controversial personalities. What democrat candidate has mass appeal which will win in those red states Trump dominated?

Oh. So I was under the impression you cared about issues. Hence, why you said, “they have nothing to offer.” If all that matters is having a big charismatic and loud obnoxious personalities, why have debates or party platforms? Why care if Sanders is a Democratic Socialist? What does that say about the state of our democracy if all that matters is the impression of strength?

Pro tip, next time just say you like Donald’s loud personality and you don’t know/care about the issues.

Democrats don’t have to win any red states. They just need to win a handful (2-3) of purple midwestern states that they lost by a total of 80,000 votes last time. If Democrats win Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and/or Michigan, Trump is gone. Most states have already decided who they’re voting for already (cali isn’t going red and Utah isn’t going blue) and ultimately they won’t matter. Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan are really all that matter.
I am not voting as I am not in USA. I am just watching USA elections from outsiders perspective as a big comedy show since last time. I thought democrats learned from their failure during last elections and yet I do not see anybody so far who would be more appealing to USA electorate than Trump.

Democrats DONT need to win any red states. Hell, 40 states are already decided. They don’t matter for the EC.

Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, and Michigan are really all that matter. And out of all those states, Democrats should probably focus on the upper Midwest.

My gf's parents are staying with us for a few. They're huge Fox News Trumpers from Florida. They watch Fox News religiously. I can't talk to her dad about Trump or he gets all worked up over my opinion. Her mom went so far as to look up what pages I liked on Facebook and saw I liked Vice News and it made my suspect and she thought I was super liberal. To be fair, a lot of what Vice posts is complete trash - I love their docs and YouTube videos though.

Anyway, her dad told me this morning Obama accumulated the most debt as president. I ignored his comment (I've learned my lesson to talk politics with him) and googled it. I read this this morning and learned a few things.

That’s not what the facts say. You need to get better informed. Especially since you’re living outside the United States. Literally, all of the top Democratic candidates are more appealing to the American electorate than Donald Trump.

The key isn’t finding a candidate who can appeal to the electorate at large. Our presidential elections aren’t decided by the popular vote. So the key is finding a candidate who can win the handful of swing states needed to win the electoral college. Who is it? That question remains unanswered today. Which is why we’re having a primary.

Do you think Hilary was less appealing than all these 4 you mentioned? All polls before last year elections were predicting Trumps crushing defeat. Yet he won.
You guys as a country are so controversial that nobody can be sure how things will turn out. Just fascinating to watch.

A lot of Trump supporters don't participate in these polls. In 2016, Trump was able to mobilize a number of people who were considered unlikely to vote in prior elections. This is, in part, why they were underrepresented in polling.

Wow, that's quite an alternate reality you live in. The only mistake some poll interpreters made was overestimating the degree of independence between votes in different states.

What’s your definition of “more/less appealing?”

Hillary won the popular vote by 3 million people. But as I stated earlier, our presidential elections aren’t decided by the popular vote.
The polls were correct. Trump lost the popular vote. He was Crushed by millions of votes.

Warning warning will Robinson! Dunning Kruger Dunning Kruger Dunning Kruger!

Haha.

That's exactly what I was thinking and yet it's you that has to be more "educated."

Polls are for fools. Especially when they're conducted by politically motivated media outlets.

Polls were not predicting popular vote, did they? As far as I remember they were clearly stating that Trump has no chance in hell to win it.

Most polls were based on the popular vote. The polls that took into consideration the EC, accurate showed Trump with a chance to win. The claim that polls were wrong is a bunch of fake news. The polls were correct. However, people don’t seem to understand basic statistics.

which is why I don’t understand why you keep bringing up “Democratic candidates appeal to the electorate.” To the electorate, most Democrats beat Trump. But what will decide his fate, will be what happens in the swing states. A more accurate poll would be the head to head matchups in swing states.

Btw, anyone know why we’re having this old argument again? Haven’t we gone over this crap? Like a lot? Over the past few years haven’t we had several threads discussing polls, the electoral college, etc? Must we go over this again? And Russian interference? And Facebook propagating fake news? Like I’ve read several books on this. I swear we’ve had several threads on this. Why are we going over this stuff again?

sigh

we live in the dumbest timeline.
