Stars Off the Schneid

Larsen sounds like a Utah Jazz org apologist.
That’s funny because I feel that Andy has been the most questioning/critical of the main media guys. Locke is more questioning than he gets credit for, though.

Larsen can pretty tough on the organization and on the players at times. Walden too tho to a lesser extent. Walden used to kill Jeff Green on Twitter during the game.

I welcome it. Small market media often tend to become cheerleaders.

I think both Andy and Locke question the Jazz very appropriately at times. The homerism thing is way overplayed. Even someone who asks challenges what theJazz organization does can agree with them. Good take by Andy.

I agree... I think Locke speaks highly of the front office and org, so it comes off as pandering. He's a naturally cheesy guy (I like him... just calling a spade a spade.) so it probably comes off weird at times.

I like our front office guys... I really do. I think they are overly conservative at times and slow to move. I think DL is of the San Antonio mindset, and I'm not sure how well that model fits the modern era. Contracts are shorter, there is more player movement, thus championship windows are tighter. The continuity, wait it out game ain't gonna work like it did in the Stockton/Malone or TD/Tony Parker/Manu days.

Stars got smoked tonight by 30. Willie Reed played and was on a minutes restriction got 14 points and 7 boards in 16 minutes. JWF, Oni and Brantley made double figures along with Collinsworth. JWF, Oni and Brantley looked very disinterested. Stockton had three rookies that looked all world. Kyle Guy is a point guard the Jazz could have drafted this spring in the late 2nd round and made our guards look sick.

The Stars next game is in Stockton at 11 in the morning. It will be interesting to see if the Stars show up for this one. In Monday's games no Jazz player of Stars player had a plus in the box score. That is an organization getting skunked.

Stars had seven guys in double figures lead by JB and Oni. Oni lead the team in rebounding and assists. Other double figures guys were JWF, Haas, Bluiett, Scott, and Reed. Willie Reed was on minutes restriction again and 14 points in 15 minutes on 7-9 shooting. Let's hope the Jazz come back tonight like the Stars did.

I went back and watched the game the Stars got pasted by Stockton. It was interesting to listen to the Stockton announcers and their take on the Stars players. Their takes were that JWF, Brantley, Oni, Willie Reed, Collinsworth and Bluiett are very close to NBA ready. This was in a blowout by the Kings JVs.

So awesome to hear that John is fielding a small ball team with his boys and killing it in the G League.;)

In a couple of overseas signings an Israeli team signed former Stars player Taylor Braun and a German team signed Jordan Crawford who was a first round pick in 2010 and scored 41 points in an NBA game. He is a player I wondered why the Jazz weren't interested in. His last NBA gig was with the Pels where he averaged 14 ppg.

Stars win on the road by over 20. Oni, Brantley and Haas with double doubles. Bluiett with 19 points Willie Reed with 18 on 9-12 shooting. The announcers said the Stars front line with Brantley, Reed, Oni, Haas and Bluiett would give some NBA teams trouble. Brantley lead the team in assists.

Stars win by 3 vs Memphis and are in first place in the GLeague West. Willie Reed the leading scorer with 20. JWF with a nice 2nd half with 16 in the half. Brantley had a crap night but hit two big free throws late. Bluiett and Mike Scott had 19 each, Haas was the leading rebounder with 9 and Scott, Brantley and Bluiett all had 3 assists to tie for that lead. Oni likes to talk to the refs a lot and got one T and probably should have gotten another numerous times.

Brantley gets more love from Ridiculous Upside: "Q Who is the best power forward in the GLeague?
Honestly, this is a tough question to answer as there are a good amount of players that share time at SF/PF or PF/C. For example, while PJ Dozier and Johnathan Motley have both started at PF this year, most of their time on the court is spent playing other positions. When it comes to the guys that have are regularly playing at this position, I’d say that Justin Anderson, Vic Law, Yante Maten, Devontae Cacok, Henry Ellenson, Zylan Cheatham, Jarrell Brantley, and Jalen Jones all have a case for being in the top 5.

While that group of players is extremely strong, Justin Anderson is the best of the bunch in my eyes. Although he has been a small forward during the majority of his career, he’s played at power forward in nine of his eleven games with Long Island. During that time, he’s been a spectacular player by averaging 23.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.1 steals on 51% from the field and 39% from 3 on 8.5 attempts per game with the Nets. That level of production combined with his well-rounded game, that I looked at in a recent piece, are the reasons behind him being the best power forward."

Why aren't we talking more about Haas? From a Jazz perspective I mean. Seems like he could be the answer to a lot of potential matchup problems come playoff time. Nobody's going to take his legs out from under him like the Rockets do with Gobert. Could give us serviceable minutes against the twin towers of LA. Sure I know he has deficits, but he's big, strong and pretty skilled and I believe gives us a lot more value than Ed Davis come playoff time or if Gobert goes down to injury.

The Summer League announcer pronounced it Isaac Hayes and I thought how appropriate cause "this cat ... is a bad mother (shut your mouth)"

The Stockton announcers were in love with him even in their blowout win. The guy is freaking huge. If he is in the paint, I would think some NBA players would think twice about taking it to the hole for their safety.

I would think that it would be in our best interest to get him on an official NBA contract before somebody else does.
