The official "let's impeach Trump" thread

We’re a failed State. Just wait to see what happens if the State loses enough of its nerve to continue to deliver the right amount of Coronavirus aid to the right places.

If conservative voices have been shut down and muted, than how is PJF able to post tweets showing them obviously unmuted?

It’s just an exhausting presidency where fact and reason have been abandoned.

Oh, is this not conservative? ;)

I expect a lot of outrage from Republican Senators today about this obvious government overreach... and for lots of white dudes with machine guns and “don’t tread on my flags” to protest state capitols today. Cuz Gubbamint overreach is important to them, Right???

November 2020:

Coronavirus deaths are somewhere around 250,000

The election has been delayed or is being actively disputed by Trump

But most Americans are just trying to figure out their Thanksgiving plans.

Nah, election won't be delayed as constitution spells out that the power to move an election actually holds with Congress. Disputed? I have no doubt that regardless of who wins, it will be disputed and carry on ad nauseam throughout the holidays about stolen elections and fraudulent voters and tactics.

I'm not an alarmist by nature, but I think there's a legitimate chance at violence and riots. This country is so divided that there's extremists everywhere who will take decisive action that others could only imagine in their heads. I hope I'm wrong.

I’m with you. I’d just note that half of Congress is controlled by Republicans, so I wouldn’t rule out a delay (or, at the very least, months of chatter about a delay as a pretext for disputing the results later. McConnell will be happy to oblige.)

Don't forget the the inevitable 'Trump is going to declare martial law and not leave office.'

I think the most insightful part to me was this phrase, "The more you were willing to accept, the harder it is to let go." That explains so much.

And, it must become even harder to let go, under those circumstances, when it also means the “libs” were substantially right about Trump. That can only be galling to the Nth degree, and a step way too far for most Trump supporters. Far more likely for the culture wars and partisan wars to continue unabated under a Biden presidency. It will be extremely difficult to dismantle the alternative reality that Trump has promoted. A Biden win will be seen as a victory for the Deep State. That will be the Trumpsters’ “truth” in the Post Truth landscape.

I fear we may need to bookmark this response... I sure hope this doesn't happen, but sadly I wouldn't put it past him.
I've been saying it for a few years. Not that he'll do it, but that when we arrive at that point, a sizable contingent of people will theorize and convince themselves that he'll do it. It happened near the end of Obama's second term, and had subtle rumblings among some people, but was more a wishful fantasy predicated on their distorted view of reality and partisan politics. Anyone on the left, and a number on the right, could recognize its asininity without much effort. The part people will be blind to is the other half of the equation. Because when the same process strikes a chord with someone's own political proclivities, it will be viewed as much more legitimate, much more nuanced, and much more thoughtful than what they perceive as the crazed ramblings of those moronic conspiracy theorists, and thus normalized as legitimate.

Martial law is unlikely to be a reality.

However, Trump is very like to speak/tweet about enforcing it, which will fuel the paranoia.

A lesson my dad taught me, he was a clinical psychologist, I think it was a lesson he learned from his job, is that "the people who complain the most about certain behavior in others, are usually the people committing that behavior themselves". In Trump's case, it's not only true, its a fundamental part of his strategy, and it's worked as one of the greatest cons in our history. And Fox is on the same page: the fake news is Fox News telling its listeners that the New York Times is the fake news, their listeners none the wiser to the con. And Deep State conspiracies. Phenomenal con.

The president, or his team, makes an effort at suppressing free speech:

Reversing course:

https://www.theguardian.com/books/2...remove-satirical-cartoon-from-online-retailer

Redbubble reinstated Anderson’s cartoon this week, saying that it strives “to respect IP rights and freedom of speech, but we sometimes make mistakes, as we did here … We’re sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.”

In a statement, Anderson praised Redbubble for recognising the error, but said there were some “troubling issues” raised by the affair, including that the cartoon was removed less than 24 hours after he posted it, before he had received a single order.

“I doubt anyone had even seen it yet on the site,” he said. “This reveals that the Trump campaign has a system in place, trawling for material they find objectionable. If it happened to me so quickly, it likely has happened to others. How much other content has been removed this way on Redbubble and other sites?”

He added: “It must be pointed out: the president of the United States is a hypocrite who complains about the ‘violation’ of his free speech on Twitter, then tries to actively suppress the free speech of others. These are actions of an adolescent wannabe-authoritarian.”
