As a big slobbery dog owner, a 150 pound Newfoundland, a few things to consider .....
1. If you go on vacation and need someone to watch your dog. Having a huge dog is a real issue. Our dog is the sweetest boy, but he is strong as a god damn ox so that rules my mom out from taking care of him because the 1% chance he wants to run after a dog or try and run out of the gate there is nothing she can do to stop him.
2. Slobbering. If it's not your dog people do not want to deal with insane amounts of slobber. So you can't really take them out and about. Shake their head and huge slobber gobs go flying 15 feet in any direction
3. Bathing and routine grooming take SOOOOOOO much longer. And are so much more imortant.
Still I love big dogs. Will probably go with something less slobbery and hairy next time though. Although our Newfie is the best dog we've ever had personality and temperment wise. He is just a lot more work.
