Gobert to Minnesota

Name another player like Rudy

Deandre jordan? Dikembe Mutombo? Ben Wallace? Mark eaton? Although those players did go further in the playoffs.
I feel like there have been quite a few traditional centers who were defensive player of the year caliber but limited offensively.

The way I look at it they have 2 years and then the teams salary will start to cause issues. Ant is going to get the rookie supermax which will kick in in 2 years. McDaniels could end up getting a huge contract next offseason if he was a good year.

What is your point? Living in the past is stupid. This team was past its prime and needed to be blown up.
Point is the Jazz were very successful. Gave Mitchell more responsibility and it backfired.
Now instead of fixing that the Jazz quadruple down on it. They traded the only 2 guys who play defense for picks and medocre bench guys.

Good list. Rudy is still far superior to all but Mutumbo. Mutumbo was quite a bit slower than Rudy in my memory.

I actually think rudy is superior to all those guys. Rudy is awesome. But i think that the days of players like rudy leading teams to titles is over…. If it ever even existed in the first place.

We didn't give Mitchell more responsibility. He had the same as the year before. What happened was Conley, Royce and Clarkson regressed significantly. The same goes for Ingles prior to his injury. Then for the second year in a row we completely whiffed on our MLE acquisition. There were so many issues beyond Mitchell for why we regressed so badly.

I remember watching a video about centers being the star players or championship caliber. I can't remember how long it's been since a center was the center piece of a championship team but it has been a LONGGGGGGGGGGGG time

Hakeem? Shaq?

Maybe we are talking about two different things.

I think our team likely takes a step backwards in the regular season without Rudy provided that we build around Don without trading many picks. So not "better off" with regards to next season.

Overall, I always thought a Rudy trade was necessary to get us to where we ultimately want to go - past the first round and further. I do feel this Rudy trade puts us "better off" in that regard.

The obligatory in my opinion:

The reason why the team was not moving forward was not because of Rudy or Mitchell or Conley or Quinn singularly. We had a really good year in 2020-2021 but things just did not bounce our way in the playoffs. Injuries, not making the right adjustments, whatever. Then our window closed last year due to injuries and team unity. I am not surprised Gobert was the first to go because my guess is his approach of calling out team mates did not gain him support.

But Mitchell won't be the answer either in this 2 year window. So we are better off trading him for a King's Random and start over.

I am really curious to see what happens to the Celtics next season. Teams can rebuild and make a bunch of really good moves but still have little to show for it.

Agree to disagree. The jazz could think that spida is a franchise player that could lead them to a championship but also understand that if the bucks offered us giannis that its something they would have to consider.

Yes, but we are not talking about Giannis here or some sort of certainty. We are talking about selling Mitchell for huge pile of uncertainty(picks).

Anthony Davis on that Lakers team was playing center.

Duncan and Shaq are probably the most recent. An argument could be made that Nowitzki was a center as the primary big man.

(Yes Duncan was a center. All this hype about him being a PF is ********.)

Shaq was dominant but not "THE' man on the team, that was Kobe and Dwade so that's a no. Duncan doesn't get placed at center, doesn't matter what you say. Dirk wasn't a center either. NEXT
