Bruh… Ainge is def gonna ask for that… he sold his grandma prepaid legal… he greedy AF

Quite a loud article considering the deal hasn't actually happened yet. They're making it sound imminent.

Shams doesn’t want to feel too behind Woj. Woj will probably be first because he has the same agency as Don and close ties to the UTA FO. But Shams/the Athletic are doing their best to be first by naming the team first. The race to get the news out makes this more real than ever.

One of the strange things about this is that they had an article along with the tweet. (To be honest, I haven't read the article, so I don't know the level of detail in it, so my questions may be moot.) If this was really time-sensitive news, you'd think that they'd have just fired off the tweet before Tony wrote the article. Wonder why they felt confident in writing the article before Woj caught wind of it and sent out a tweet.

Locke tomorrow…

“This isn’t news… Jazz are very much still building around Don… maybe they move him next year but not now… of course teams are talking”

Just as I was warming up to the idea of Simmons melting down in front of the Salt Lake media for three seasons.

There truly is no better way to tank than to tank ugly.

The thing in the article that is most interesting is that everyone else is available for trade.

This is going to be a “to the studs” sort of thing, ain’t it?

Is this wise? With the new lottery rules, is all out tanking the best play, or is a softer tank better?

Which way do we give ourselves better odds to acquire Wenby? By being semi-competitive with some talented young guys, couldn’t we attach one or two to our trove of picks and trade up for Wemby? That would make next season more fun too if we are at least play-in competitive with a talented young team.

I dunno. We should probably just embrace the full tank and not half *** it, right? I hope we at least have some fun young players to watch. That‘s why I hope Toppin and Barrett are in the deal.

Also once we trade Don I expect a **** ton of trades on our end. Wouldn’t be shocked if we added bogey to this deal to get more picks. Ainge gonna go for the throat.

I bet the deal gets done tomorrow if not tonight. Let’s get all those knick picks unprotected Danny —- you can do this

I never ever believed that **** lol. Maybe if we traded for Rudy for Collins and Capela or OG and Trent…..Windy said it best, why would they do that? lol

I’m sure someone told Locke that and I’m sure somebody told TJ that the Jazz were firm on keeping Mitchell. But sometimes you’ve got to sift through the obvious BS. Those two are doing their jobs, but they’re job is to report what people tell them to. It was posturing the whole time.

Funny to see this news competition come out. So much stuff that’s obviously coming out of UTA, Don’s, or other teams’ trying to control the narrative. It’s all a part of the game.

Just curious -- does anyone know if Shams ever jointly credits any other Athletic writer the same way he regularly credits Tony Jones when he's breaking Jazz news? Seems Tony's maybe getting a lot more shine in this stuff than most local writers.

Zero chance whoever gets the #1 pick trades it. Hell, I will go as far to say anyone who gets a top-5 pick in the 2023 draft will not trade it.

We tank hard as ****. Get a 14% chance at the #1 pick and let the chips fall where they may. We will also have 3 or 4 other picks along with our own. I think we could package those to move up though.

Wut? Tanking hard is obviously the best way to increase our odds at Wemby.

Look hard tanks are better than soft ones… you know what happens to a soft tank in battle? People die that’s what.

I think there are some optics here on New York's part. Leon Rose can't let Donovan Mitchell go on the market, have enough assets to get him, and let him end up in Brooklyn or Miami. The trade might not work out as well as NY wanted, but not doing the trade when it was on the table could get someone fired.

Especially when the Knicks boast about being able to keep Barrett in the deal.

Tanking hard for the number one pick is both the only way to get it, and the only path for the jazz to be a championship team. Thank god Danny is here, and this franchise is finally willing to stop being “competitive” and go for the real thing.

Locke was saying today that the Woj thing wasn’t news and it was ridiculous cuz “ like we just hang up the phone if they say Don”. It’s okay to be a company man but holy ****…
