Trade Confirmed: Jazz get jack for Bogey

@Tony Jones basically confirmed it.

I would add that my kinda-nutty but I think very well-structured deal of '26/'27/'29 swaps gives everyone what they're really looking for (for the Jazz, increased opportunities for premium compensation while consolidating players/addressing the logjam; for the Lakers, maintaining their future options while getting A LOT better now).
Yeah, kind of liked your creativity with the pick swap stuff and thought it offered a possible compromise. But if the reality is that the Lakers simply weren't offering picks, then maybe even this was too much for the Lakers. (Seems odd for them to seemingly have chosen that path, but that's their choice to make, I suppose.)

This is pure ****ing gold.

You say I don’t even know what they were offering but then you state Phoenix wanted stuff for nothing lmao.

If there was any value at all don’t I think Danny would have taken it? No I really don’t because there was value and he opted to do an inferior deal.

People can say at least we saved money in the Detroit deal. Bogey/Vando for Crowder/Saric/1st saves us almost the same amount plus we get a 1st plus we don’t have 3M of guaranteed salary on the books next year plus we subtract Vando’s salary next year too.

It’s just too bad there wasn’t any value in a deal like that and the absolute best we could do is get Olynyk and save money.

Phoenix offered a first but it was heavily protected, only had one year (23) that had a chance to convey (would have gone to seconds after) and the Jazz would have had to give back Vanderbilt, which they weren’t going to do

Phoenix wanted our stuff for nothing. Your "deal" was imaginary.

Huge relief to give Detroit our stuff for nothing.
I mean, I would rather it be EC team rather than a WC rival. And, KO appears to be more than what PHX offered. And, Lee is a lottery ticket from our 2nd rounder and we all know that this board thinks our 2nd rounders will likely turn into Bane. Nobody giving a decent 1st rounder for a 34 year old one trick pony.

I’ve never heard anyone mention seconds and Bane. I have, however, heard many (myself included) talk about the utility of having second rounders available through the season because you may be able to land something with a few second rounders (being able to snag Mirotic or Clarkson with second rounders). Regarding the bolded, if that’s the case, WTF does it matter if he stays in the western conference?

A very curious post that is mostly straw men.

I mean if it comes to giving free stuff to Detroit or the morons in LA or Phoenix, that's a pretty easy choice.

The fact is you guys made up from wholecloth a deal that was never available and complained that we didn't take it.

If we would have kept Bojan into the season waiting for a better deal you would have complained about THAT too.

I mean pages and pages of bitching about scenarios that were never reality. And you are still doing it even after you know the exact details.

We just need training camp to get here.

I have $100 for you for producing a quote where I “made up from wholecloth a deal that was never available.”

The only thing I ask is that, in the event that that never happened, you say so.

The reporting on PHX lines up with some suspicions a few of us had around here. I’m guessing it was Crowder+Saric+1st offered for Bogey+Vando. I could see some teams valuing Crowder closely or even higher than Bogey, and if PHX also values Saric it throws off the balance of the trade. We had pegged Vando as worth a 1st, so it makes sense that if PHX was going to give up a first they would ask for him.

If people were wondering if we would give up Vando for a late first, we got our answer.

I’m curious to see what PHX gets out of Crowder in a trade. I think he’s more valuable than Olynyk. Given what UTA got in the deal, I wonder if Crowder+Saric for Bogey+Gay with no picks involved was on the table. That would have been a much better deal for us.

According to Marc Stein, Bojan has been seeking a contract extension which cooled his trade market.

Why? Nobody is obligated to give him one.
Also Bogey's an effing robot assassin... he will go out and destroy no matter what. With a guy like Jae Crowder I can see a team bending to what he wants. He types in all caps all the time. Bogey types with the appropriate level of capitalization and punctuation. You don't want to extend him then don't.

He doesn’t type at all. I think he even still had his Wizards uniform in his profile until like a year ago.

Also as another side note, I don’t understand why every language comes up with their own name for each country in that language. Why not just call it what they call it in that native language? Why do we call it Japan and not Nippon?

Edit: sorry, guys, I put this in the wrong thread.

According to Wikipedia:
Marco Polo called Japan 'Cipangu' in circa 1300, based on the Chinese name,[5] probably 日本國; 'sun source country' (compare modern Min Nan pronunciation ji̍t pún kok). In the 16th century Malacca, Portuguese traders first heard from Malay and Indonesian the names Jepang, Jipang, and Jepun.[6] In 1577 it was first recorded in English spelled Giapan.[6] At the end of the 16th century, the Portuguese missionaries came to Japan and created grammars and dictionaries of Middle Japanese.

Basically you first discover a land, name it somehow and write home about it long before you figure out how the locals really call it themselves.
