What's new

The R.I.P. Thread

Wow, this one surprised me. I saw him live a couple of times, hilarious and a good dude by all accounts. Sad.
There was one line, not even super funny, from his act that I still think of all the time, especially when having ice cream in the wintertime. It went something like "I saw a commercial the other day, the women said 'Ice cream in the wintertime? Why not?' Because it's ****ing stupid, that's why not."

One of my favorites from him was about how confusing it is for a kid to learn things, like potty training. He said we spend all this time teaching them to keep their feet off the furniture and be careful on the furniture, then suddenly here's a chair you can **** in.

And this one from him is very prescient right now:

If pro is the opposite of con, is progress the opposite of congress?

Watermelons everywhere breathe a sigh of relief. RIP.

The actor who played Theo in Die Hard. (FYI, Alan Rickman said that one of the reasons he took the part was that in the script, none of the characters were ethnic stereotypes - the black guy was a nerd, the Asian didn't obviously know martial arts, etc.)

Fleetwood Mac's Christine McVie, RIP. I remember in 1977 my dad bought a new Oldsmobile 98, brown with brown velour interior, fancy car. Well it came with an 8-track tape of Fleetwood Mac's new album Rumours in it. We wore that 8-track out.

I should probably wait for number 3 but...

Not the biggest names ever but absolutely big parts of my television watching life when I was younger.
Kirstie was a bit of a shocker. Not that surprised about Bob. 91 is a good run. Hell knows I don't want to live that long. Ugh.

Look Who's Talking is one of those movies I remember seeing a ridiculous amount of times as a kid, she was one of the first on screen female characthers I remember. In my mind at the time she was a big time actress, odd thats the only thing I remember her from.

Largely because that and cheers is all she really did of note.

I went to her filmography, thinking that surely you had to be wrong and she was at least in some minor thing that's at least marginally recognizable. Alas, you are correct.

I watched Veronica's Closet, but she was forgettable in Star Trek II.
