Official Utah/Minnesota/Philadelphia Pick Watch

I'm gonna root for the Wolves to stay in play-in hard but after the regular season ends I'm gonna root for the to win even if thats slightly bad for our long term pick prospects. I still think they will end up bad at one point when we still own their picks.

I just want to root for Conley and Rudy. Both are such classy guys who deserve good stuff.

Hes not good enough to pay (the money required to) be a backup behind two all star caliber bigs. He's good and he will find a team that needs him more.

Also ****ing hilarious you are a big Reid dick rider but can't seem to find any positive about Filipowski. Very similar prospects but Flip is more talented.

1/ Amazing we got the 3 2nds! Moving D-Lo has been addition by subtraction, but Conley's defense and vet leadership has been absolutely huge, we've gone from the team constantly making dumb turnovers pre-trade to the team causing turnover problems for the other team.

Since joining the team Conley is averaging more steals (1.3) than turnovers (1.2) with a 4/1 A/T.
That's amazing.

2/We've never seen the maturity of our team like we're seeing right now.

The leadership of Mike Conley and Kyle Anderson is really something.

Dlo for Conley ad 3 2nds is the steal of the century for our team.

3/Mike Conley has been an incredible stabilizing force. People crap on Connelly, but that move may have saved our season.

4/This is the Gobert I think we should have got from the trade. He played awesome.


Which make me wonder if the last trade was a really good one. I an understand the logic, Mike is old and not part of the rebuilding future> but we make Miny better and this sucks for this year !!!

Hopefully the Jazz are able to do something impressive with the cap space acquired from the Conley trade that makes it a worthwhile trade in the immediate future then the Lakers pick materializes down the line

Yup... As already pointed out that Conley trade where we were in a position of power was a massive failure. We gave up the most of anybody by far and it's actually hurting us dearly. Didn't like it then, absolutely hate it now.

How many ever games you think the Conley trade has won Minny… times that by 1.5 or 2 and that’s how many more games it would have won us. Going from Mike to THT is a bigger downgrade than Minny upgrading from a smoking hot Dlo to Mike. There was also a real chance Mike broke down at some point… like he has multiple times the last couple years. It was still the right thing to do.

DLo is ***. You are really downplaying the upgrade in team fit from Dlo to Conley.

Jazz got the best asset in the trade. Minnesota was the team with the power. Lakers did not really want DLo. It was just a convenient option for them.
 
Looking at the standings and Minnesota could pretty easily get to the 22nd pick. That would be extremely disappointing. I'm hoping they do the thing they've done all year once they look like they are putting it together and lose a bunch of inexplicable games.

Their remaining schedule is @Pheonix, LAL, POR, @Brooklyn, @SAS, NOR

That team is still bipolar… they will lose one game they shouldn’t. I think Phoenix and the Lakers have a shot at beating them (there is some very big conspiracy worthy stuff going on in LA with FT disparity). I’d say they are like 70/30 to be a 6 seed vs play in.
 
Conley is better than Dlo… Conley had a shot to break down as well… but what is being ignored is that they could be basically in the same place… maybe a game or two different… and we might be 3-4 games better because Conley > Dlo but Conley >>>>> THT

It is still weird to me that Lakers wanted Dlo over Conley with where they are on their timeline.
 
Jazz had the least amount of power in the trade. Why? Because we wanted to get off a large salary in 2023/2024 and we had the most assets.

The Lakers gave up the most valuable piece and are asset poor. All they got in the trade were rotation players on expiring contracts. I would certainly argue they should have had to give up more, but they had nothing to give.

Utah was in the biggest position of desperation. From the reports they had other trades for Beasley/Vanderbilt but no one wanted to take on Conley because of his contract for next year. And that's the biggest sticker, no one was going to take Conley for free. Utah clearly wanted to free up playing time to see what Sexton had as a starter and free up space for free agency.

Minnesota was the team who got the least valuable (not talking about player quality, but what the market value was) pieces, so they had the most power. Like HH was saying, DLo was playing very well on an individual level, so they could believably play the hand of being OK with sticking with Russell. The Lakers had nothing to squeeze so they had to turn to Utah (where having so many assets is a negative) to squeeze as a price of being a conduit to complete the trade.
