There's no sign of that....
Only Lebron has played relevant past age 38 and Curry ain't Lebron. He might get to 39 or 40 but he will be 43 in 2030. He isn't immortal.

But to your point; that's why I just toss 2025 out. Least likely asset to help either the Jazz or Warriors so just take it out of the headline.

Curry will play the 2028-2029 season at age 40 and 41 (march birthday), not 43.

My God, this dude really gets off on sniffing his own farts. Complaining about GM's wanting to prove how smart they are is a textbook projection. Everytime this dude opens his mouth its to try and prove how smart he is.
If I was the interviewer: "So does this mean you prefer GMs who look dumb in your own recruiting?"

Here's my issue with the "other things to ensure we are bottom 5": We have too many good, young veterans but only one player that will return a ridiculous package which is the only language Ainge speaks. He's not going to get a worthy return on Sexton, let alone thumping another team like Danny makes a point to do, and I'm not sensing a robust market on Kessler, either (and the smoke signals have completely died on the Jazz's side).

TLDR; I don't think we can be bottom-five with all of Lauri, Kessler, and Sexton and only Lauri is going to grab the haul that Ainge operates in terms of. And yes, Moody + rights to all of GSW's 1sts is a haul even if it isn't enough.
I get that. I think Lauri is the pivot point though. Even if the asset loss was higher in trading Sexton or Kessler... I'd move them first and keep Lauri if we don't get something REALLY good. What is Podz worth on the open market... 2 firsts maybe... like 1.5 firsts. If I sell Kessler for 1.5 less firsts than I'd get in the Lauri deal because I compromised I still see that as a preferred route because trading Lauri has such a big impact on the direction of the franchise... and both Sexton and Kessler are assets that will depreciate most likely where Lauri has a chance to appreciate.

I just wouldn't settle for anything less than all the firsts and podz. If its podz, Moody and the firsts I think you make the move.

I think we are negotiating.
I wonder if we are using promising young players with still uncertain ceiling as a way to extract every single possible pick we can get? First - find out what player the team you are negotiating with really doesn't want to lose, start pushing for him... (McDaniels with Minny, Barrett/Grimes from NYK, Podz from GSW)... then "settle" for all the picks... ?

As well as if it is a "shot" at Ainge I am not sure he has a lot to prove to Ryan... he already knows he's smart. He may be talking in general but who knows. I really don't think Ainge will blink here. So GS has to ask themselves if they think they can do better than Lauri with that trade package or if Podz and Moody+whatever those assets can yield helps them with Curry's fading window.

Podz+Moody+all the picks is just such an insane trade package. That’s like the value of 5-6 FRP (including some very good) and 4 swaps (including super swaps). I truly hope we get that kind of package for Lauri, but I think the expectations are a little too high. If we dropped that value down to 4FRP and 4 swaps I don’t think I would feel like we settled. Sometimes the consensus is wrong, but 9/10 people not on this forum would call the latter a godfather offer.

9/10 not on this board don't know that super swaps exist even though they get traded/created multiple times every year.

What value are you assigning to Podz and Moody here? They can offer like 2.5 firsts or 2.75 firsts. I don't know that there would be a first out there for Moody headed into his final year of his rookie deal.

We also need to stop saying a big offer is a godfather offer. Moody plus picks is a good offer. It is not a godfather offer.

Yeah lol. "Fans are so stupid and just don't understand how other GMs want the farm for a star player because they're trying to be smart" seems to be a rather circular argument rife with both projection and hypocrisy.

He also clearly hates Ainge lol.
I’m pretty sure everyone (possibly even his own family) hates dealing with Danny Ainge. Can you imagine the negotiating tactics that must’ve been deployed to get his kids to go to bed on time or to eat their vegetables?

I counted all 3 firsts, Moody is 1, Podz is 1-2. So you can change that to 4.75-5.75 if you want. I don’t care to bicker about 0.25 worth of FRP value….the point is the same, it is an insane amount of value coming our way.

You can feel some way about the value or the semantics around the term “godfather”. Most who are not on a Jazz forum consider the lower package a a massive package to begin with. And it would align with everyone saying the Bridges package was a godfather package.

Yeah I'd quibble with Moody and the full 3 firsts part. I'd say its 4.5-5 firsts type value plus the swaps. Take Podz out and its like 3-3.5 1sts plus swaps... its good but the middle ground imo is they keep Moody. If they can get a first for Moody I'd say they should do that with a third team and route that pick our way. A godfather offer is one you HAVE to take. You have no choice because its so good. Without Podz it ain't a godfather offer. Its a solid offer. It doesn't have to be a godfather offer to make sense though.

Bridges got 5 firsts that are largely unencumbered and a swap plus Bogey (not sure there is much if any value there but maybe if healthy).

Can we say that maxing out owning their draft (meaning super swaps) is a great, nearing godfather offer? That’s pretty bananas.
Its good... but just like a beach house sells for 25M and that is bananas... it still might be able to sell for more... we have the beach house... they want to buy it... we said we didn't want to sell it... they made a fair offer... we want more than fair cuz we really like the beach house.

Lemme play!

Podz and Moody = 2.5 unprotected picks
3 super swaps (25/27/29) = 2 unprotected picks
3 basically unprotected (26/28/30) = 2.75 unprotected picks
1 normal swap way out in 2031 = 0.75 unprotected pick (due to how far out it is and upside value)

I count at least 8 picks worth of value there.
