What's new

Game Thread Jul 18, 2024 08:00pm: Clippers Vs Jazz (Summer League)

Added to Calendar: 07-18-24

It’s designed for rookies to get their feet wet and 2nd year players to work on new skills. In this instance clearly Hendricks had been told to work on his handle and scoring off the dribble game.
Has he also been told to stop playing defense and to form the NBA's softest frontcourt with Flip? Because he definitely succeeded in doing that.

I can't tell if Jazznik only posts in gamethreads when the Jazz are doing bad, or the Jazz are doing bad because Jazznik is posting in the gamethreads.

Flip is one foul away from becoming the 6th ever player to foul out of a summer league game.

You should go back and look at his Salt Lake Summer League games, he was playing great defense.

I think these guys are getting pretty tired at this point.

Lofton Jr was absolutely bad. Tried to bully ball like Kobe Brown did but he was too short for it. Harkless was completely hounding Collier and Abmas.

All you budding GMs, are Bazely and Lofton better than Yurt7, Potter, THT and Luka? Also there are guys on the free agent scrap heap that might be attractive other than our alums. I'm assuming Bacot, Abmas and Sane have cemented their legacy with the Stars.

Potter was decent. The rest are meh.

Could’ve prolly used Brice last night. That being said, the Clippers have some impressive athletic wings that work the angles and play together.

Bazely is imo. THT was a victim of being on the wrong end of a numbers game and constantly in the Hardy doghouse. Feel bad for him and could’ve used him last night.

I still (irrationally) like THT. I hope he lands somewhere. Was hoping he’d work out in Utah, but you’ve gotta be able to consistently shoot the ball at some point. He was incredibly entertaining while he was here though.

No question that he had a tendency to go for the $100 solution when a simple $5 no nonsense approach was the right answer. But of the guys mentioned, he gave the most consistent defensive effort imo.

THT was given plenty of opportunity.

He doesn’t have a position. He doesn’t have a consistent shot. Not quick enough to defend guards and not big enough to defend NBA wings.

He’ll probably shine in the Chinese League but not suited to the NBA.

Sane is interesting to me. He made some eye opening plays in the game and is still very young. It looks like he had been playing for the Ignite, which probably wasn't helping him develop at all. I think he could be interesting to invest some of our development dollars in to.

I wouldn’t mind giving a 2 way to a guy like that. See if he pops.
