Game Thread Oct 15, 2024 07:00PM MT: Sacramento Kings @ Utah Jazz (Preseason)

Added to Calendar: 10-15-24

Jazz as a team were very efficient tonight offensively.
53.5%, 40%, and 27-30 from the line (90%)
Turnovers was the only issue (I'm looking at you Clarkson. 6 turnovers in 23 minutes. Though he did have 5 assists at least)

Brice and Cody aren't getting shot attempts with the main rotation players, and it looks as though Cody Works a bit better as a glue guy and ball mover than Brice does. He cuts better and finds shooters better.

Well the Kings won the bench minutes. Their starters got trounced.
Why do so many people view Sacramento as a good team in the West?

They remind me of a traditional Jazz team.
All-Star PG/Big that have limitations that prevent them from being superstars
Well coached
Really good role players
Lack the star talent to actually be considered a contender

We posted up Lauri like 7-8 times which led to 5 turnovers and something like 2 points. Yet despite those wasted experimental possessions we somehow won the game. We gave up a lot of transition and 2nd chance points but our standard half-court defense was against surprisingly good.

Not looking great for the tank at this point. Kings arent necessarily a good measuring stick, but they are actually one of the teams we have struggled the most with over the past 2 years. Last season we lost all 3 games with a margin of 16+ points, and the season before that we went 1-3 against them.

Both teams played this game like it was regular season, and Hardy clearly went for the win here, matching Kessler and Sabonis minutes towards the end. If he wanted to lose, just do the opposite and match Collins and Sabonis and its an easy L.

Additional Thoughts:

- Mills looks like he has a little bit of gas left in the tank. Maybe if we only play him once a week he can be ok.
- Juzang is only 23, he is part of the youth movement, he should be part of the rotation (and I have been a Juzang non-believer)
- Sacramento's defense is really bad. It's hard to have a good defense without true rim protection.

Juzang deserves to be, but he just cant currently. Him and Filipowski are the most hurt by Collins/Clarkson being on the roster.
