Game Thread Oct 15, 2024 07:00PM MT: Sacramento Kings @ Utah Jazz (Preseason)

Added to Calendar: 10-15-24

Unfortunately the season of lose/lose as well. All outcomes will be both good and bad.
Nah. You cant give me an outcome of a game this season that I will see as bad. No losses for me. You do you, but for me every win is a win and every loss is a win since we now dont have the vets to ride to the results/outcomes.

You said it yourself: "If we are unexpectedly winning more games than we want it's because our young guys are at least good enough role players to get us there. Hardy has committed to playing the youth. It isn't just words, but so far in action as well. Winning more games than expected also likely means we have more tradeable players than expected, which is a good thing as well."

I agree with you. I cant see how your statement is a bad thing.

Yea, like I said (and have been saying) if he's just the best version of what he does best, he's very good. Just wish he would be a bit more assertive in trying to expand his game. Nothing crazy, but just really using his size to his advantage when there is someone between him and the rim instead of doing auto pass outs.

He should do fight training on the side. Learn some aggression.

Pessimist - If we lose then our young guys probably aren't playing well and our vets are less tradeable and losses still suck.
Optimist - If we lose then we are increasing our chances at a franchise changing talent

Pessimist - If we win then we are losing out on ping pong balls for potentially franchise changing talent and setting ourselves up for continued mediocrity.
Optimist - If we win then our young guys are further along than expected, plus winning is fun.

There will be something for everyone this season.

I will continue to be conflicted in both wins and losses as I can see it both ways.

You know what's hilarious.. there are so many negative nancy's on the twitters that simultaneously think our picks sucked the past couple years AND think we win like 35 games. Half the roster are young guys... the vets would have to be amazing to carry us to 35 wins and have the young guys suck.

I definitely want to lose, I just dont want to lose pathetically. I'd rather have the 9th best odds and have games be competitive, then the 6th best odds and most of the games are complete blowout losses.

35 wins is really means like 40+ wins. The Jazz egregiously tanked 2x in a row, have we not learned anything? Now that the incentive is greater and they are essentially vocalizing to the world that wins don't matter to them I expect tank time to come even sooner. In an event where the vets are so good that they can carry a team with young players that suck, they would just be shut down anyways....and this includes guys like Key/Kessler if they are able to establish themselves.

BTW, I'm actually calling yall out. If you let Jazz twitter opinions effect you are a straight dumbass and should be ashamed of yourself.

In regards to your last sentence, easy for me since I dont have twitter.

Watching the preseason just reinforces how unenjoyable watching Clarkson play has become. Reckless turnover overdribbling machine. I've really enjoyed watching some of the youth play and make some good plays (and some bad ones too).

The way Clarkson plays, he has basically made himself untradeable.

My mind tells me we need to lose because we've been in nba purgatory too long but deep inside of me winning gives me joy. And all in youth movement is not the answer. They sometimes get stuck and develop like snail. I say give them 3-4 years if they dont make a significant leap then trade them. So far only Key made a significant jump.

Is it just me, but it feels like once he checks in he doesn’t come out. It really bugs me.

Last game was rough but I would say 2024 preseason JC >>> 2023-24 regular season JC

I threw out 26 on our last pod. So 27.5 feels pretty close to me too. I think it opened at like 28.5 or 29 some places.

Had some time so was browsing the schedules of the other tanktastic teams to see if any had easier schedules. They really don't have a lot of head to head action early or no team had an easier schedule that stood out to me. In the spring there is a lot of head to head between Nets, Hornets, Wiz, Pistons, Raps. So there may be more than a few slow starts in the first 20 games.
First line I saw at MGM/Caesars was 27.5 I think. It peaked at 29.5 after Lauri extended, and for whatever reason went down few days ago to 28.5 where it sits currently.

After release its mostly adjusted due to action, so I'm kinda curious as to why gamblers went smashing the under after seeing the first few preseason games.

Before preseason we were tied with Raptors at 6th. Now we are almost tied with Chicago at 5th (Caesars giving them 27.5, but MGM has them at 28.5).

Now rhat I think of it the line probably went down because some experts published their picks and went for under.

I would guess lots of gamblers trust certain experts instead of doing their own research on these full season bets.

Hes been good so far. Some turnovers were easy read like wanting mills to score. Blame fangirling. Some were loose handles but you can see the defense collapse when he attacks. Kings dont have a rim protector so they depend on steals/to. Jc had 6, lauri 5, sexton 4. Jazz had 16 TOs but so did Warriors. Podz had 6 turnovers in that game too.
