2025 Off-Season Trade Ideas Thread

I honestly don’t think NO is going to attach anything really valuable to get off his contract. Still thinking the best move the Jazz can make right now is a consolidation trade of 3-for-1 Collins, Sexton & Clarkson to the Bucks for Lillard and pick swaps.

The Clippers could use both Collins and Sexton. It's a tough salary match with them especially for the Collins salary. They also lack draft capital. Their HC Ty Lue was in the draft room when the Cavs selected Sexton so they are a team along with Bickerstaff in Detroit that usually comes up for him.

Bogdanovic's salary (the Sacramento Bog) works straight up for Sexton. He's also an expiring contract with a team option for '26-27. It could also be someone the Jazz could flip during the season for an asset. Maybe you could get the Clips to throw in one of their spare developmental wings (Brown, Baldwin, Christie, or Miller).

Powell is another guy the Clips potentially trade this offseason to fill the need in their frontcourt, but Collins' salary is a bit high to match. Apparently Cam Johnson might be the forward on their radar. They will have a future FRP to trade this offseason.

Watching Rutgers vs Seton Hall. Maybe I’m wearing my Jazz colored glasses but I think Ace is better than Harper. Ace and Wemby could’ve been a dynamic front court.
Honestly I think the ceiling for Ace is higher but it's going to take a lot of work and even luck to get there. The floor for Harper is obviously much higher.

How good is this team as presently constructed, but going for it? Will we be able to land in top 8 picks next year? We prob need to be like bottom 3 in case drop 5 picks again.

Honestly, the place to look for trades is simply looking at the worst contracts. Hard to find teams who will actually want our players. Maybe we trade for Dejounte Murray? I’m not sure that Dumars knows what an unprotected pick is.

A tank requires trading Clarkson, Sexton, and Collins—at minimum. Replace their shots with shots from Ace, WCJ, Sensabaugh, Cody, Key, Collier. Trading Lauri is the big question mark.

I’m torn on trading Lauri. If we can keep him and still get boozer, Dybantsa, or Peterson, we will be long and nasty and stretchy
If Ace is locked-in on defense and Hendricks comes back 100%, then Ace-Hendricks-Kessler-Lauri will impact our winning percentage by improving our abysmal defense last year. I would not bet on a top-3 draft pick if we keep Lauri. I'll push all my chips in on a different outcome than that.

Way too good to keep our pick.

Trading Collins, Sexton and Clarkson for Damian Lillard and two pick swaps (30 & 31) is essentially the deal the Jazz should’ve made for Westbrook in 22/23.

Then figure out a quality trade for Lauri. Come back with. . .

Collier - Clayton - Lillard (INJ)
Williams - George - Juzang - Prodica
Bailey - Sensabaugh - Mykhailiuk
Hendricks - ??? - Martin
Kessler - Filipowski - Tshiebwa

I’m pretty confident that team keeps their top 8 pick next year.

I'm wondering... maybe it was the Jazz that didn't want to make a move yesterday because they thought they have enough picks in this draft... and if they are not trading for picks in this draft, there is no hurry to trade on draft day. It's possible we wait to see the dust settle and target the teams that didn't address their needs in the draft to make deals for future picks. 2026 seems like a draft we would want to have some extra assets in now. And as of right now we only have that one superswap pick. We don't even have our second. We might want to have some extra bullets... be it to target players we like or to be in better position to trade up for one of the top players in the draft.
