Just heard on Locked On from David Locke that Tony Jones is moving out of Utah as the Athletic no longer feels a need to have a full time reporter covering the Jazz.
This sucks.
This sucks.
I would guess because it most likely will be a few years until we are relevant again. Since we didn`t get the #1 pick this year, we will probably be in the wilderness for a couple of years. Why aren’t we worth covering?
Several years of no road map and no visible plan other than not being relevant. It has been pretty obvious to national media and a few select local media that we have been a rudderless ship. Maybe Austin will change that but getting rid of most of the proven talent we had for not much in return still means we are a ways out from anyone caring what happens in SLC.I would guess because it most likely will be a few years until we are relevant again. Think they have been slowly phasing teams out. For the last two years Tony covered the Jazz and Denver after they let go of their Denver person. So does The Athletic have a beat reporter for every NBA team or is the Jazz now only one without one?
So what will happen to Tony? Is he re-assigned or let go? Does he go to Denver?Think they have been slowly phasing teams out. For the last two years Tony covered the Jazz and Denver after they let go of their Denver person.
Didn't the draft this year teach you that lesson? The league will decide who is competitive and who is worth covering. We are not, on both counts. What a joke. Why aren’t we worth covering?
He still works for the Athletic, not sure what his assignment isSo what will happen to Tony? Is he re-assigned or let go? Does he go to Denver?

Lief is so damn boringIt's interesting that Tony hasn't said anything on Twitter?
I listened to Locke for the first time in months to hear what he had to say about this and he didn't say much. Also the audio quality was even worse than normal. At least it wasn't Lief.
