What's new

Brittney Griner is gay

I may have misunderstood what you meant back in post #76. and #79.

If you or your wife were raped, would you tell your kids about it? If not, how can you be so sure your mom told you the truth about it?

How I know that is none of your business. I believe her, it happened and I found the joke funny.

Edit: You said "With very good luck, you'll never experience it nor have a close friend/family member who does"

Well as I have stated I have a extrememly close family member, R.I.P., that did experience and I am not offended.

Hence the complete lack of outrage over the latest minstrel show that came to Utah. They still exist there, right?

No? You mean, they went too far and lost popularity? They really weren't funny? How about that.

Blackface is hilarious IMO.

Bill Hader in blackface on SNL the other night was also hilarious.

If a minstrel show was actually funny I would be all for it. The fact that they didn't make it into the present day proves they were not funny. Its not like being PC has stopped comedy ever before.

Humor is an interrupted fear reflex, so this does not surprise me.

Not seeing the entire context of the casting choices, I have no idea why the movie makes thought blackface and redface was so important. It doesn't seem like DeVito's typical shtick.

I hear Hader was playing Al Pacino as an actor in blackface, and making fun of Pacino for it. This would be punching down.

In your world, they went on for decades being well-attended and profitable despite being not funny, and only shut down by coincidence after the protesting started?

Or someone self righteous complained long and loudly enough to get them shut down...

Almost everytime I see someone in blackface I laugh. There is actually a Siamese feral cat in my neighborhood who I have begun calling blackface. You wannt know why? Because his face is black!! Get it?

According to Hartsock, "The fact that they didn't make it into the present day proves they were not funny. Its not like being PC has stopped comedy ever before."

So, that doesn't seem to be an option.

I could be wrong. Most likely am. Either way, I haven't seen a blackface in recent memory that hasn't made at minimum, chuckle.

I detect sarcasm.

I'm impressed with how many people have such good relationships with their mothers, aunts, female acquaintances, etc., that you can be absolutely sure they would tell you about one of the most painful, shamed events of their lives.

So... Stoked, Hart and myself all have close family members that have been raped and found the roofie joke funny. Hmmm... could it be that the joke was, um, funny?

The reasons you think it's funny are why I'm posting.

Maybe you you do what another poster could not: explain why it's funny if the victim is an adult, but not if the victim is a child.

Or maybe you could get off your high horse.
