This reminds me of something that happened here in NJ 1.5 years ago. Or maybe it was 2.5.
Basically a superintendent for a certain school district (a very good one) was running on the shoulder of the road in the morning. Perhaps he was biking. I forget. Simultaneously, a student, who was running late to get to school for a field trip for which the busses were leaving at like 6am, was driving and texting her friends that she was on her way and running late.
She hit the superintendent and killed him. Awful. Supposedly the man was beloved, a regular at church, a pillar in the community. The kid wasn’t a bad kid. At all. She made a mistake that most of us make. And lives were destroyed. This happened in Robbinsville, NJ if one cares to read about it.
