You can't be this dense about positions in 2024.What battle are you talking about? They play different positions. Is there Kessler vs Sexton battle too?

Then it should be called the battle of Williams vs Lauri for the SF position. Expecting that a rookie can dislodge the leader of the team from his most natural and clearly preferred position (where he became an All-Star, no less) over the course of his first months in the league...is something. If Cody Williams has a positive enough impact, the Jazz might want to start him at the 3, move Lauri to the 4, and bring Hendricks off the bench. (Assume Keyonte and either Clarkson or Sexton are starting in the backcourt.)
I think the roster max is 21. I believe we are at 19 at the moment. Are their currently any roster spots open for training camp?
They can have a max of 20 right?
Lmao, he was the nominal PF in his All-Star season....Then it should be called the battle of Williams vs Lauri for the SF position. I don't know what he was nominally but in 22-23 he started first with Kessler-Vanderbilt and then with Kessler-Olynyk. It was Vanderbilt and Olynyk who matched with the opposing PFs. Lauri is not great defending strong and/or physical PFs and it is easier for him to overwhelm the SFs on his drives to the basket. . He can play the 4th but a lot of his height/strength advantage is lost against them.Lmao, he was the nominal PF in his All-Star season....
Hardy is going to play Mills, Sexton, Clarkson, Collins enough to prevent the tankHope this year we really tank , things that we should have done for 2 years. Have the feeling that we waste 2 years for not much return. Let's see what season bring.
Hyperbole much? What battle are you talking about? They play different positions. Is there Kessler vs Sexton battle too?
Not feasible right now, but maybe at some point in the future. I think Key would have to do too much there atm.I haven’t watched Cody play other than some highlights. I read an article talking about the potential for the jazz to have a very big lineup if they played Key, Cody, Hendricks, Lauri, Walker
Is this something that is feasible or is Cody too slow to play the 2 guard position?

I mean, that's what they have shown they want to do to an extent. They want to put a lot on Keyonte's plate. Not like winning is the goal, so anything is technically feasible. Not feasible right now, but maybe at some point in the future. I think Key would have to do too much there atm.
I think the issue is if you start him and you lose a ton of games, that's not going to do anything for his value as he will still be seen as he is currently seen by a lot of people, a good stats/bad team player? Like what are the odds he has a better statistical season, at least in terms of efficiency, than last year?If we're not even going to give Sexton the chance to be a starter, we should have traded him already. If you don't believe in him, just trade him, but to just keep him around as a 6th man for no reason is just poor management.

If he's the 6th man and excels in that role then teams may see his value being higher? Any playoff team who trades for him is going to be putting him as their 6th man, I would assume. Maybe the Spurs really exceed expectations to a wild degree and they decide they want to add Sexton? I struggle to think of a playoff team who would view Sexton as their starting PG, maybe the Magic? But every podcast I listen to they talk about how Orlando purposefully didnt pursue a PG because they really want the ball in Paoloa/Franz's hands.
At least that's the only spin I can really think of, but the same can be said for Clarkson as a starter vs bench role, so idk.
I mostly agree with you here.If he fails as a starter, the result will be teams thinking he's a 6th man. In other words, you are guaranteeing the negative scenario for the Jazz without giving yourself the chance of having the positive which is that he continues to prove himself as a starter or more. He played extremely well as a starter, but one of the main reasons his trade value is still not amazing is because he hasn't done it for a full season. I think continuing his play will go a long way in terms of proving it wasn't a fluke and make more teams believe.
Maybe teams will simply never believe in Sexton as a starter, but playing him as a starter will not make them think less of him as a 6th man. I don't think playing him as a 6th man does anything for his value except guaranteeing it won't increase.
Personally, I've gone back and forth on Sexton. I can see the rationale for being high and low on him....but if he's here, you've at least got to give him the chance. Keeping him here and solidifying the low end outcome just isn't good management IMO.
