2 Days Till Training Camp

Are you confusing Sensabaugh and Williams?
I’m not saying he’s a bust or anything, just he won’t be an allstar unless his defense is otherworldly or something. Hes going to be a very good 3&D imo. He’ll be a good slasher and finisher, but your not going to put the ball in his hands and ask him to win games that way.

He hardly turned it over in SL. What the **** are you talking about?

Here are some things I am excited to watch going into camp.

I agree the Williams vs Hendricks battle will be the most interesting. Hendricks is a good defender and shooter. Other than that he seems to lack offensive pop. He can also get passive at times. Williams isn't the shooter Hendricks is but has more offensive pop but not the defensive upside. Williams has the higher ceiling but physical needs to develop.

I could see Hendricks starting but Williams finishing the year as a starter.

Juzang is also interesting. If he can play enough defense he should gets minutes. I am afraid he won't get that until Clarkson is gone.

Filipowski will also be a great follow. If he is ready for minutes that will mean a lot to the Jazz and their 5 out scheme.

Last will be Collier. Jazz need a pg so much and he is the best pure PG on the roster. He needs to cut down on TOs but he could be a steal in this draft.

Hendricks and Williams probably both finish the years as starters.

Either Sexton/Clarkson get traded mid-season, or they get to the last third of the season and all vets are resting and they are starters because of that.

Most interesting thing about the early TC reports is that will Flip come in looking like he deserves minutes? Lets not forget that he was pretty impressive in the Vegas summer league games.

Him showing up and looking like he belongs in the rotation should give Hardy some headache.
I'm kind of torn on Filipowski. Genuinely impressed by his skill level, but worried that his high summer league performance was mostly as teams were already shutting down their better players.

2 keys on him, I think. Does he learn to survive as a 4 on defense so that you can play him at least 50/50 at PF and C (the latter of which I have very little confidence that he'll be useful defensively). I'm somewhat optimistic that he'll get to being playable as a defensive 4. And can he shoot efficiently? He wasn't quite there in college, so we'll just have to see on that one. I tend to be optimistic over the long run (though probably not this year) on this.

Personally, I think he needs to prove that he has actual NBA big man ability. He’s skilled “for a 7 footer”….but I question if he can deliver on the big man aspects. The appeal for me is having that skillset come from your big and that value really diminishes if you need to play him alongside another big.

He might have to play 4 because we’d be at too large of a deficit size wise if he’s our 5. But he’s playing 4, is his skill level really that much of a plus? At minimum he will have to prove he can shoot it.

What battle are you talking about? They play different positions. Is there Kessler vs Sexton battle too?

If Cody Williams has a positive enough impact, the Jazz might want to start him at the 3, move Lauri to the 4, and bring Hendricks off the bench. (Assume Keyonte and either Clarkson or Sexton are starting in the backcourt.)

Are their currently any roster spots open for training camp?
They can have a max of 20 right?

Then it should be called the battle of Williams vs Lauri for the SF position. Expecting that a rookie can dislodge the leader of the team from his most natural and clearly preferred position (where he became an All-Star, no less) over the course of his first months in the league...is something.
