2010 FIBA World Championship Turkey USA B Team Official Thread

Great game for anybody who had a chance to watch it on tv or internet between Serbia and Spain. Teodosic for backup PG for the Jazz? Unfortunately he would want way to much money. Serbia could very well be the US's opponent in the final.

I wouldn't want to play Turkey with their home court advantage.

Yes, they were quite impressive against Slovenia today. They have got a big team with Turkoglu, Illyasova, Erdin, Asik, and Savas. Their backcourt is not as good as their frontcourt and if we do play them our guards really need put a lot of pressure on them.

Tough win against Russia. Thank god for Durant. If he had not played I think we would probably be about the fourth or fifth best team. Probably play Argentina in the semis. Scola has carried the load for them.

Whoooops, Scola stunk it up. We play Lithuania in the semis. Man, we are in the easy bracket.

That's gonna be USA-Turkey final and That's gonna be great entertainment tomorrow...

Last seconds of the Serbia-Turkey semi final game was a classic. 0.5 seconds to go Turkish guard Tunceri made a lay-up and Turkey had 1 point lead. Serbia called timeout. They made a great play in that 0.5 secs. It was similar to the last second Hedo-Courtney Lee half-court play in the second game of the 2008 Nba Finals. But new Celtics signing Semih Erden denied the shot.

And also, Teodosic rocks...

You going to the game, TurkJazz? I'm looking forward to watching it on the tube. The Elimination round has been a breeze for team USA, but I bet that stops tomorrow.

Robertas Javtokas on Lithuana would be a solid backup C in the NBA. Anybody know why he never came over? Just one of those guys that would rather not leave his home continent and live across the pond?

Robertas had the athletic ability and body height/ strength to be a solid bigman in NBA. AS we know, the body muscle, strength, athletism and strangely "toughness" :) are common problems confronted during the transition from european basketball to NBA basketball. That was not the case for Javtokas. He could run the floor very fast. His defense was way above average. He had a serious motocycle accident in 2002. Good bless, he stunned everyone and returned to prof. basketball after one year... He still is a solid player and knows the game well however he is not the player he was before that incident. You might be impressed with his performance, however, let's not forget that USA plays Odom who is a SF/PF as a center.

By the way, I'm pumped and cannot wait for the game to start. Good luck USA. It will be interesting to find out how your inexperienced, young crew react to hostile, passionate and red environment created by 16000 fans. Keep an eye on Coach Tanjévic's 2-1-2 and 2-3 zone defenses + young centers.

Unfortunately, i won't be there. Probably that's going to be the most important sports event in Turkish history and not being there sucks...

If Turkish guards handle the pressure made by US Team, then it may be a close game. Turkish side shouldn't turn the ball over.

I guess this is gonna be the toughest game of the World Champ for USA Team. May the best win...

Because of reaching the final stage, every player in Turkish roster is gonna be awarded with $1 M, that's a lot money for a max. 9-match tournament :D

People might jump on me for this, but Rose is a freak athlete with some talent but really doesn't have any notable skill to his game. He's not a great passer, shooter, rebounder, or defender. So what is it he does? Handles the ball, runs and jumps well, and can finish.

Rose is not in the conversation for "best" anything. In fact, as far as I can tell, the first PG selected after him in the draft is the same player but just more athletic and better than he is (Westbrook).

It will be very interesting to see how Boozer does with Derrick instead of Deron.

It will be very scary to see how Westbrook does with Durant and an even deeper roster.

It will be interesting to see how Carlos "The Cancer" Boozer does in Chicago period.

Bulls had to get him in the free agency but oh boy what a mistake that will be a few years down the road...
