2010 FIBA World Championship Turkey USA B Team Official Thread

Congrats to the USA team. I am really excited that they won. They played tough and as a team. Personally, Kevin Durrant is my favorite non-Jazz player. The kid carried the team offensively and played good defense. Portland fans must be kicking themselves considering how they traded DW and passed on Durrant.

Some observations: Rose is overrated as a PG. If he has been working on his shot this summer you couldn't tell. DW has nothing to worry about for 2012. My two PGs would be DW and CP3 with Westbrook as the backup. If Westbrook had a better J he would be tough. His defense is very good and he can get to the rim pretty easily.

I know I am going to get hammered on this one but I want to praise Lamar Odom (USA one not Laker one, lol). The guy does whatever it takes to win and he makes big plays when needed. I thought he was the unsung hero for the USA team. Kevin Love is a rebounding machine. The guy has a vertical of about 4" but he is scrapping for every rebound when he played. I thought Iggy and Gay had their moments. However, without Durrant this team possibly finishes out of the medals.

It is nice to say it, USA are World and Olympic championships!!!!!

I tend to agree with Andre Igudala(sp?) that KD is the likely guy to break Kareem's scoring record assuming his health remains. He's just an incredible offensive basketball player, and hell, the rest of his game is looking really good at this point. Nobody wants to see Oklahoma City in the playoffs because that guy could get really hot for multiple games and send you packing.

I think Steph Curry was the only player that didn't really bring anything to the table throughout the tourney. I'm calling it right now, some stupid NBA GM will trade a really good player for him in the not so distant future because he can score...... as long as the Jazz are never involved in those conversations, I'm okay with that.

People might jump on me for this, but Rose is a freak athlete with some talent but really doesn't have any notable skill to his game. He's not a great passer, shooter, rebounder, or defender. So what is it he does? Handles the ball, runs and jumps well, and can finish.

Rose is not in the conversation for "best" anything. In fact, as far as I can tell, the first PG selected after him in the draft is the same player but just more athletic and better than he is (Westbrook).

I've been saying this for over a year now. Rose. Jennings. Evans. Everyone's ready to anoint these guys the next great (point) guard. Why? Let them do something meaningful like lead and win playoff games. There's already a ton of players who are pure stats guys in this league.

I've seen a lot of Steph Curry and I think he's actually a good player. He's not going to be a superstar but his ball-handling and passing skills are actually quite good and flow naturally. If he was the third best player on a team (like in a Hornacek role), the fans would absolutely love him. If you're asking him to be the best player, you won't have a very good team.

AK for Steph Curry, Corey Maggette (filler), Anthony Randolph, Ronny Turiaf, and Kelenna Azubuike.

Turks simply dont have good enough backcourt to beat the US and oh yeah that guy named Durant pretty good as well. Did not understand at times when they had a big height advantage why they did not go inside. There were times when Billups was guarding Illyasova and they would not get the ball to him down low. Still not sure anyone other than Durant will make the Olympics team.

Actually it would make you nationalistic or possibly anti-american.

....it would be "nationalism" if I were pulling for the USA! But I tip my hat to them....they did well and despite the "hopperism" on the team....Durant and my pal Chauncey, kept them together and playing decent team ball!
