2011 draft.....

Swinging for the fences on lottery picks is the best way to destroy a franchise. You do know knight is 18 right? You dont think he has upside?

I respect his POV. I still agree with you that Knight is the guy though. Especially at 6 if he is still around.

Sorry was not directed at you.
I know. Just agreeing with your post that this kid is still 18 and has a lot of upside. It also doesn't escape my attention that Calipari has a recent history of good one and point guards. Where does Knight rank on your draft board?

Knight/Biyombo/Leonard: if Jazz got two of the three, I'd be thrilled. Good potential for length, defense, versatility, toughness -- things the Jazz need. But all are so young and have so many holes in their game. They'd need at least three years to become more than spot contributors. But I really like that they all seem to have a good combination of having their heads on straight and having decent upsides.

Imagine if you could get all three (though I'm sure the last thing Corbin wants is to have to worry about developing three teenagers at once). I'm naive enough (draft talk always gets me this way) to think that a Knight/Hayward/Leonard/Favors/Biyombo lineup could be pretty nasty in six years.

ok, then if Bismack and Kanters are both gone shouldn't we take Knight then?

I'd much rather go with Knight than one of the Euros.

Sorry, what I meant is select Singleton with our twelfth pick; although I would be inclined to streak through my neighbourhood butt-naked from sheer joy if your scenario played out, theres a very low chance of it hapenning. Personally I feel like Singleton merits a 12th pick, and could seriously help with our defensive woes. It would seriously irk me if a team like the celtics, or spurs got him.

Agreed. Plus, his stats are even more impressive when you take into consideration that FSU isn't exactly UNC or Duke, loaded with studs for whom opponents must gameplan and account. The guy is thee lockdown defender in this draft, is athletic and long, can defend three positions and has solid offensive stats. Quite frankly, we already have enough guys who can score. Jefferson, Millsap, Hayward, Harris, Miles, hell Okur's coming back and Favors needs touches to develop an offensive game. Sure, I'd love a wing who can penetrate and take it to the hoop night in and night out AND shoot AND defend but I don't see anyone like that at anyway so go with Singleton who we know can defend, has solid percentages which maybe be able to translate to the NBA three, and is the type of guy we should be going after. Hayward at the 2, Singleton at the 3 and Favors at the 4 or 5 are three very good defenders who know what they're doing.

Most years I agree with you. But not this year. The likely BPAs at 6 and 12 this year are guys you'd find in the teens and 20s in a decent year. So yeah, this crappy year I say swing for the fences (you're not out much). I think Knight will be a good player - Jru Holiday good. I think that's his upside, which is good but there isn't much trade value and it's about on par with Harris.

And I'd go with a Euro.
It's a gamble, the Euros aren't sexy and there's the risk that the Jazz end up with a POS. But I'd rather take the risk than settle for a "solid" PG.

As Les Claypool says: "It's just a matter of opinion."

I am just going to have to disagree. I think through about 8 any of the top prospects are still top 12 in any draft. I think knight is a top 7 pick in any draft.

My top 10 board has not changed much. I posted one earlier with both pg 1 and 2. I know most disagree on drafting a pg early, but imo irving amd knight are sure fire players that will have great careers.

1. Irving
2. Knight
3. Williams
4. Kanter
5. Vesely
6. Bismack
7. Walker
8. Leonard
9. Burkes
10. Thompson

You rate Knight so high I understand your POV. I'm not quite so smitten with him. But y'know, I could be wrong. Still, it's a huge gamble he's THAT much better than Harris - like top 5 PG in the league good. It's more likely he's the kind of good the Jazz could easily grab next year - but again, we have a difference of opinion. You think he's a rare talent and I think he's not that rare.

Ok friends, what else can we rehash? Someone wanna bring up Kanter's knees again?
