What's new

2011 draft.....

On every draft website they talk about him having past knee issues. Its impossible to know the extent of them though since he is only 18/19 and hasn't played competitively in a while. I'm sure once workouts get going and teams medical staffs are allowed to examine players we will all know more about it.

On every draft site? Like what, NBAdarft.net? More than half of the material you find on the net is regurgitated from there, and that site ****ing blows. The ONLY thing I've found is he had tendinitis in one of his knees more than 2.5 years ago. Maybe he has legitimate knee problems, but with the actual information out there (almost zero substantiated evidence), that's hardly fair. I'd bet around half of the players in any given draft have had an ailing knee at some point. Having an ailment a couple of years ago isn't sufficient to say a guy has bum knees.

And on the best website accessible to the public that there is and logging the largest tracking of Kanter that there is (at least in english) - draftexpress - it doesn't mention anything about a knee problem. Not even once.

Unless someone wants to enlighten us with something that is not accessible to the public and is substantiated. Either way, we'll find out what's going on in his legs when he has to take a physical soon enough.

I'm still fuming players like Barnes, Jones, Sullinger stayed in school. We'd have a shot at someone good like Kanter getting pushed down to us.
I know Kanter is gone by 6 in this draft, and Bismark has a good shot to be gone if he has good workouts. Hell, even Knight might not be there.

Do the Euros really excite you, or do you just not know enough about them?

No, not especially. No one is really exciting me in this draft. Like you, I was salivating over Barnes. There are no prospects that are slam dunk studs. Irving is probably most likely to be one. Even though he was fantastic for Arizona there's still some question as to how Dwill2's game will translate to the NBA small forward. Then from there there's Kanter's knees and lack of athleticism, there's Bismack's lack of offensive game, etc etc etc.

Still, the Jazz have 2 picks so see what you can get out of them. No one's a finished product so there's a lot of gambling on potential. Bismack seems to have long arms and a motor for defense so there's potential. Jonas plays hard and has good numbers per his minutes, but he's oh so skinny. bla bla bla I dunno. I'm just widening my search to see if there's a diamond in the rough no one's talking about.

Ah forget it - just draft Jimmer.

1. Trade Harris and Millsap and the Nr. 12 pick for Bynum and second rounder
2. Trade Al Jefferson for Andre Iguodala and first rounder (Nr. 16 pick)
3. Trade Derrick Favors and Raja Bell for Webster and Ridnour
4. Try to get Kanter in the Draft
5. Resign AK

Jazz starting lineup:

C- Bynum - Okur
PF- Kanter - Kirilenko
SF- Iguodala - Kirilenko
SG- Hayward - Webster
PG- Ridnour - Watson (resign)

Please stop.... My eyes are bleeding.

Yeah, you pretty much just restated everything I said. I guess I was wrong about the "every" draft site thing though.

I like Kanter give or take, but my main problem with him is that he wants to be a PF. He might be a good one, like Kevin Love meets poor man's Demarcus Cousins, but Favors wants to be a PF tool. Somebody has to play in the middle. Also, I'm not sure of Kanter's ability to defend without fouling.

I still see 10 players in this draft who could definitely help the Jazz: Irving, Williams, Knight, Kanter, Vesely, Biyombo, Montiejunas, Leonard, Burks, Fredette...

I don't think the Jazz's draft changes too much with Terrence Jones going back to school. The first pick should be pretty solid, and the second pick will have to be a bit creative.

Agreed. Plus, his stats are even more impressive when you take into consideration that FSU isn't exactly UNC or Duke, loaded with studs for whom opponents must gameplan and account. The guy is thee lockdown defender in this draft, is athletic and long, can defend three positions and has solid offensive stats. Quite frankly, we already have enough guys who can score. Jefferson, Millsap, Hayward, Harris, Miles, hell Okur's coming back and Favors needs touches to develop an offensive game. Sure, I'd love a wing who can penetrate and take it to the hoop night in and night out AND shoot AND defend but I don't see anyone like that at anyway so go with Singleton who we know can defend, has solid percentages which maybe be able to translate to the NBA three, and is the type of guy we should be going after. Hayward at the 2, Singleton at the 3 and Favors at the 4 or 5 are three very good defenders who know what they're doing.

Beautifully put. Getting better defensively is SOO much more important for the Jazz going into this draft, than offense. How many times did we get blitzed from the 3 this season? How bad was our pick and roll D?? Honestly Singletons percentages are very good for an FSU team that made a surprise run to the Sweet 16 i think, and fits in VERY nicely with our defensively sound rookies we got last year, IE Gordon Hayward and Derrick Favors.

PG Brandon Knight/Harris
SG Hayward
SF Singleton
PF Favors
C Jefferson
6th man: Millsap

How good, especially defensively, would this team be in 2 years?? I shudder from excitement. I am officially for drafting Singleton at the 12 position 110%.

A very realistic hypothetical situtuation is:

1. Minnesota - Kyrie Irving

2. Cleveland - Derrick Williams

3. Toronto - Enes Kanter

4. Washington - Bismack Biyombo

5. Sacramento - Brandon Knight

6. Utah - ?

There are two players that I would seriously consider here if I was the Jazz, Kemba Walker and Kawhi Leonard. Sure Leonard would be a little bit of a reach, but I would do it. Leonard is not going to be available at #12, he is rising up draft boards int othe top 10 so it wouldn't be that big of a reach. Great defender with a qucik release on his jump-shot, needs to improve on the offensive side of the ball other that than he seems like a great player to me. The tricky one here is Walker, nobody really knows if the Jazz like him or not. If he measures in a legit 6-1 I would be all in for the Jazz to take him here, but he seems closer to 5-10, 5-11, 6-0 range. These two players are who I would not be upset with if we took either one at #6 considering the situation.

Some might say let's take Jan Vesely, the only reason I didn't note him was that in an interview he said that he see's himself wants to be a power forward in the NBA.

I am not sure if the Wizards will pick Biyombo when they have Blatche and McGee unless they plan to trade either one.
