2011 draft.....

Its really interesting to see how different the mocks are out there. If you look at this mock of 5 different guys. After the first 2 it goes all over.

The last guy that did his weekly update makes a great point:
The 2011 NBA Draft looks to lack superstar talent, but as word starts trickling out from Training sites across the country, there are some NBA players in this class, its just going to take some work to spot them.

The 2011 Draft looks to be a trap-type draft for teams that have not been doing their homework, and much like last year where some of the best players - Gary Neal, Landry Fields, Eric Bledsoe and Jordan Crawford - were not top draft picks, the 2011 Draft is setting up to be the same way, as some of the best players, who could really impact a NBA team are not being projected in the top 10 to 15 picks.

How may of us would have been shocked if KOC had taken Fields or Crawford with the 9th pick? Hayward turned out to be a good pick but look at what those 2 did in there rookie season. I think we almost have to look out side the box this year with our second pick. We might have to take a flier on a guy that is not projected high but we see something in.

They do seem close, it comes down to the teams though; SDSU was ranked 4th in the nation prior to March Madness, while FSU was much worse. Despite this, they both made it to the Sweet 16, its just that Leonard got plenty more coverage, hence Singletons stock is worse. Seeing as he averages mroe blocks, steals, higher 3point attempts and percentage, I feel like he suits our team more. One might look at the assists, but you have to remember that FSU was rated as having the 130th best offense in the NCAA...

I think KOC will strongly consider Singleton, seeing as he adresses both our 3point shooting needs and (more importantly) our defensive woes, all while filling our biggest gap at the SF spot. I am extremely fond of Singleton at the twelve, rondo was an underestimated late first round pick who became an allstar. Not suggesting Singleton is as well, but he is definitely a player we seriously need. I have joined the Singleton fanclub.

If we are going to talk about Singleton at 12 then we certainly have to talk about Jordan Hamilton. Better scorer than Leonard or Singleton, but also known to jack up shots. Did not see him play enough to know about his defense though. Any Texas fans out there?

I live in Houston and we get UT games on from time to time. I would say he is average defensively in college. He usually was 'hidden' on defense on lesser players.

I would draft Montiejunas if I thought he could really play center. He seems like the ideal high-post big playing off of Favors or Jefferson. I'm just a bit concerned about his strength, footspeed and motor. I'm not entirely psyched about Burks if he isn't going to become a good shooter. He would just be a slightly quicker version of Ronnie Brewer. I like Vesely if he can play SF and continue to develop as a scorer. I think he's got great potential and a strong mental game.

It seems odd to me that the NBA teams end up more or less matching what the 'Experts' say in their mocks leading up to the draft. I know teams do all thier scouting and homework but I wonder if the GM's get sucked into the hype and fear the fans reactions.

Unfortunatley I think the NBA chicago Pre-draft camp procedures contributes to the solidifying of the draft pecking order before the actual draft.

A lot of the draft guys do their mock based on information they get from teams, so it really isn't all that odd.

I would just like to add Kyle Irving has done nothing to prove he should be the number one pick and is a hack of somewhat large proportions.

Certainly? No we don't. Hamilton's defense sucks while Singleton is thee lockdown defender in this draft.
