2011 draft.....

Singleton vs. Leonard

Singleton
H: 6' 8"
W: 210 lbs
Bday: 11/21/1989
(21 Years Old)

Kawhi-Leonard
H: 6' 7"
W: 225 lbs
Bday: 06/29/1991
(19 Years Old)

Their stats are really similar. Leonard actually averages a couple more points. Singleton averages about one more block. They look really similar.

So who do you guys think is better?

A very realistic hypothetical situtuation is:

1. Minnesota - Kyrie Irving

2. Cleveland - Derrick Williams

3. Toronto - Enes Kanter

4. Washington - Bismack Biyombo

5. Sacramento - Brandon Knight

6. Utah - ?

There are two players that I would seriously consider here if I was the Jazz, Kemba Walker and Kawhi Leonard. Sure Leonard would be a little bit of a reach, but I would do it. Leonard is not going to be available at #12, he is rising up draft boards int othe top 10 so it wouldn't be that big of a reach. Great defender with a qucik release on his jump-shot, needs to improve on the offensive side of the ball other that than he seems like a great player to me. The tricky one here is Walker, nobody really knows if the Jazz like him or not. If he measures in a legit 6-1 I would be all in for the Jazz to take him here, but he seems closer to 5-10, 5-11, 6-0 range. These two players are who I would not be upset with if we took either one at #6 considering the situation.

Some might say let's take Jan Vesely, the only reason I didn't note him was that in an interview he said that he see's himself wants to be a power forward in the NBA.

That realistic hypothetical situtuation is is depressing.

I still root for singleton, from all the sources Ive read it + the few FSU games ive watched, Singleton is the better defender + can hit the long range shots better; I just feel like hes less of a Brewer-esque player, which is what Ive heard Leonard being compared to; whether that accurate or not is desputable, but I still root want Singleton with the 12th pick regardless. ACC defensive player of the year is not somethign that should go ignored.

Some people should reread the posts. Dont think anyone said to pick him with the 12th pick. Just that he is an amazing shooter and if we somehow end up with a later pick he should be a candidate.

Well if that's the case then ok, but if the Jazz do get a later pick, and we don't pick a point with any other picks then I would still want Nolan Smith. I just have a feeling about him.

Thanks. I ask because DX project Leonard going 11th and Singleton going 19th. But when I looked at the stats Singleton was an inch taller and more blocks - so he looked better defensively, which was Leonard's strength. So yeah, I was thinking Singleton. Unless Leonard's age, being younger, projected him to have a higher ceiling. But they look really close.

This is quite possible, and the Jazz could even fall to 7th in the lotto. I think they'd consider Walker, Vesely, Montiejunas, and Alec Burks.

They do seem close, it comes down to the teams though; SDSU was ranked 4th in the nation prior to March Madness, while FSU was much worse. Despite this, they both made it to the Sweet 16, its just that Leonard got plenty more coverage, hence Singletons stock is worse. Seeing as he averages mroe blocks, steals, higher 3point attempts and percentage, I feel like he suits our team more. One might look at the assists, but you have to remember that FSU was rated as having the 130th best offense in the NCAA...

I think KOC will strongly consider Singleton, seeing as he adresses both our 3point shooting needs and (more importantly) our defensive woes, all while filling our biggest gap at the SF spot. I am extremely fond of Singleton at the twelve, rondo was an underestimated late first round pick who became an allstar. Not suggesting Singleton is as well, but he is definitely a player we seriously need. I have joined the Singleton fanclub.

Let's draft this guy!

It sucks bause if that scenario were to happen the players left at 6 are a bad fit. Not saying the players are bad, just dont fit with us.

I like Kanter give or take, but my main problem with him is that he wants to be a PF. He might be a good one, like Kevin Love meets poor man's Demarcus Cousins, but Favors wants to be a PF tool. Somebody has to play in the middle. Also, I'm not sure of Kanter's ability to defend without fouling.

Interesting, because I'm not sure of Favors ability to defend without fouling. Maybe the Jazz need both of them, gives 'em 12 fouls each game.
