Why would he bother to check out Kanter in a few days, then?

Due diligence. He's not going to close his mind to Kanter, JV, Walker, or anyone else he won't likely get before the 12. And sure, if Kanter comes in and just blows his mind he might convert. But my guess is he sees Knight as the perfect safe pick on multiple levels -- low bust potential, reasonably high ceiling potential, lots of tape, impeccable character.

If I was going to play armchair psychologist a little further, I'd also say that KOC doesn't really think Harris is a longterm guy. On the flipside, I'd bet he thinks at least 2 of Al/Sap/Favors are longterm. And he can do well trading any of them, whereas he's not going to get as good a return on Harris.

I would also add KOC is a conservative guy. He's the type of dude that buys Fortune 500 stocks and sits on them. He's not a day trader. He'll take the best gamble with the least amount of risk, not the best gamble with the greatest possible outcome and higher risk.

I'm just afraid Williams will be gone at 2. Dream draft for me would be T-Wolves continue their stupidity and take Kanter. We get Williams at 3 then trade our 12+ to move up however many spots to take Knight. *DROOL*

While his dunking does excite me, I just see Joe Alexander written all over him. Super athletic player who isn't skilled enough to play the 3 in the NBA. I can see Vesely excelling in a high tempo where he can play the 4, like the Suns/Knicks/Golden State, but not with us.

For what it's worth, of the mock drafts that I'm tracking:

* only 1 has Vesely slipping to 12
* 3 have Biyombo slipping to 12
* nearly all have Singleton available at 12
* 6 have Burks slipping to 12
