2011 draft.....

How the hell are workouts not important. I remember a few years back.... I don't remember which team it was, but a team held a workout in which Ike Diogu went one on one with Taft a pf from Pitt Taft was regarded as a top 5 or10 pick, and was was dominated by a player who is only a fringe NBA player. Needless to say Taft's stock began to drop, and he ended up going in the second round. I don't think he lasted more then then a season or two in the NBA.

Game tapes had people thinking Taft was a top prospect. Workouts exposed him for what he is, so yes I put a lot of stock in workouts. I think Bentley is justified in getting off the Singleton bandwagon. Personally I never understood the Singleton hype.

This goes both ways too.

Kirk Snyder had some badass workouts too...

How did his NBA career go?

Kirk Snyder Had all the skills but lacking upstairs if you know what I mean. He isn't a good example was a complete disaster as a person total nut case.

I posted this in the pre-draft thread, but it may belong here instead?

I say we also take a look at Deandre Liggins (could possibly go undrafted). Best defender in the SEC, tenaciously nasty. 6-6" exteeeemely long.
He was drafted as a PG out of high school (5 star) and has the handles of a PG.
He's also a much better scorer than his numbers indicate. He was asked to be the lockdown defender ... much like Jimmer was asked to score .. but as he showed in the combine, he can shoot (was near the top on 3's).

I'd take a serious look at him if he goes undrafted.

Not sure what to make of that. ha

Liggins is a long & athletic defender, who doesn't require the ball in his hands on offense, but can play the point....and you just told us that he was a better 3pt shooter at the combine than he showed in school. Plus the Lakers need pg help because Fisher is old and Blake was terrible for them.

On second thought, Jackson was the guy who loved tall pgs who shoot three pointers, maybe Brown wants something else.

To be clear, I didn't say he shot better at the combine than he did on the court. I said he didn't exploit that role. Actually, he took 92 3's last year and made 39.1% of them (same as Jimmer).

I am NOT saying that. I am saying he's a defensive monster that also has a good shot. Liggins was asked to defend the opposing teams best player last year (from PG through PF) and did an elite job of it. He even defended the little 5-9" turds.

He's fast, has great handles, very long, very athletic, elite defender, and a good shooter. So, why is he not getting more love? My opinion is he's been so overshadowed by John Wall, Demarcus Cousins, Enes Kanter, Brandon Knight, Terrence Jones, and all the other big time names. Where would I draft him? Probably around 30.

I'm sure they took those threes under the exact same circumstances, too.
