What's new

2013 MLB Postseason

Of the wild card teams, in 18 years 9 have made it to the World Series and 5 of those have won it. One year two wild card teams played in the World Series.

I suppose this is why the Division winners want a little extra help. They put all their effort into winning during the regular season they can't seem to have enough gas to consistently beat these "less good" wild card teams.

I see what you are saying about forcing the wild card teams to play and risk being bumped because they were not good enough to win the division, but it's always not fair in one way or another. Now it's not fair to the wild card team with the best record if the second wild card team knocks them off. What's next, allow 3 per league and have a play in to get to the real play in? The two wild cards are neato and all, but I'll tune in for an actual series. I'm sorry but one game is not a "playoff".

The thought process is that if you don't win your division you have no gripe either way. Of course if there is someone that its "unfair to" it should be the wild card team, not the division winner.

You're crazy if you don't want to watch a one game playoff series. High drama.

Teams I want to win it all Power Rankings

1) A's

2) Rays

3) Indians

4) Pirates

5) Braves

6) Tigers

7) Dodgers

8) Cardinals

9) Red Sox

Respectable list.
I have the same top five and the same bottom four with slight differences.

Excited for Cobb vs. Salazar tonight. Although I've watched hours upon hours of baseball, I've yet to see these two pitch.

Figured the Pirates would take it last night, Liriano's been bomb all season. Baseball is so unpredictable. All the NL series' look to be brutal and if the Indian's win tonight they will probably get destroyed in the first round.
I ****ing hate the Cardinals, but I will say Tigers over Cardinals in the world series. I expect to be wrong.

Goddamnit The Cubs Suck!

Thanks for reminding me.... At least the future looks bright consider their system improvements since 2011.

Honestly I see the Cards winning it all. I'd love to say the Braves cad win it, but my god, they are the most inconsistent 96 win team I've ever seen. The good news is they left Uggla off the postseason roster. Wish they would've left BJ off as well. Hopefully he's relegated to a bench role. Fortunately Medlen is hot right now. He's been the best pitcher in baseball over the last month and was named pitcher of the month in the NL. If he can't get by Kershaw the Braves could be in trouble.

Everyone is still laughing at them for committing that much money to BJ. Seriously, what was Wren thinking at the time? Bossman Jr. is one of those guys who is getting paid on what you think he could be rather than what he actually is(which is a guy who people will fall in love with for his athletic ability with no other evidence to suggest he is ever going to figure it out).

Yeah, the Braves are tough too read. I don't think their offense will translate well to postseason play. However, if they have a lead late it's over.

Cardinals lineup is incredibly stacked. Their pitching will be interesting to watch. They can't match what the Dodgers and Tigers throw out for starters, but their offense is going to be tough.

Was very upset with the signing. Think they panicked trying to replace both Chipper and Bourn. Little did they know that Throw in Chris Johnson to the Upton trade would hit so well. Can't believe I have to suffer through BJ for 4 more years. I dont understand why Uggla was left off the roster and B Upton wasn't. At least Uggla hit over 20 hr's. What the hell does Upton bring to the braves other then speed, and that won't do the braves any good because he can't get on base.

Speed is a good attribute. I reckon he's a good defender as well (I don't really know, just guessing).
Neither would/will probably produce at the plate in the playoffs, but at least Upton can come in and protect a lead with good outfield play or pinch-run.
Uggla is so garbage. He wouldn't be able to hit hr's in the playoffs where pitchers are actually good and focus more.

Their offense will wear these top pitchers down. They don't have a lot of power, but they just hav professional hitters up and down the lineup, and the top of the rotation is as good as any.

Biggest key for the braves is Justin. He's hitting right now but the power isn't there right now, and a big wild card is Evan Gattis. Hayward has reinvented himself this year as a lead off guy and Freeman is the best kept secret in baseball.
