2014 Draft Combine

Why would Randle fall? People were questioning if he was 6'9" - he is; they were saying he had a 6'11" wingspan - he's at 7'. If anything he looks better than he did before.

Agree. The measurements are in Randle's favor. The "flavor of the month" in NBA circles seems to be the "stretch-4" model. That's the only reason why Randle might slip into the 7-10 range.

Dude, really? Randle is 250 and AG is 220.

For Hotttnickkk mentioning Randle as SF, how many SFs are 250? LeBron? Randle basically has the exact body as Karl Malone - probably the most pototypical PF there has been, yet folks are saying Randle is undersized.

Fixed that for you. Don't take it seriously.

@tribjazz: Doug McDermott meets with the Jazz today. Kyle Anderson and Glenn Robinson III also among the 18 players Utah will interview.

They asked DL what Jazz are looking for/what needs to be filled. He said shooting and something else I don't remember, and a statement about basically everything, but that they have a lot of chips and may fill the needs by the draft or a veteran by trading (mainly refering to the two later picks). He feels that even if they slip a little in lottery, Jazz can get what they need as far as athletisim and talent. He also mentioned that Jazz tradition is that rookies have to wait their turn (mentioning Stockton, Hayward, Alec Burks). He then reiterated that they could go for a vet.

Lastly, they asked if John Stockton was being considered for head coach - DL shut them down pretty quick and said "No comment on the coaching search."

I didn't watch either of them play in college-- are Kyle Anderson and Draymond Green similar in any way?

In short, no.

(edit) the more I think about it, you could come up with some similarities.

My initial answer was no, because Green was a PF in college, while KA was a PG/SG/SF. However, despite Green being more a power player and KA a guard with legit pg abilities, they are both stat stuffers, triple double threats.

People thought that Green couldn't defend a position when he made it to the NBA-- but he was a versatile offensive force, and he was worth a 2nd rounder.

From what I can tell, Anderson seems a little better offensively, has better size, but has the same question marks defensively.

While there is no guarantee that Anderson will follow a progression similar to Green, let's remind ourselves that Draymond Green was a stud this year, and completely outplayed Harrison Barnes (who was drafted ~30 picks earlier, in this same draft) in the first round this year. I like his game, and I would not hesitate to draft a taller, better-passing Draymond Green with potentially worse defense. Who knows.

Just a comparison I was thinking about, I suppose.
