The Chicago Pre-draft Combine begins Wednesday May 11. Lasting until Sunday May 15. Followed by the Draft Lottery May 17 which is slated to begin at 4:30 p.m. (MST) and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.

"A new rule that applies to this year's Draft allows players to go through the predraft process all the way through the combine. Players who haven't signed with agents have 10 days (May 25) after the combine to withdraw from the Draft."-NBA

ESPN will be broadcasting from the combine. In the past it was the talking heads yakking it up while basketball players did drills in the background. I could only see it scheduled for Thursday and Friday on ESPN2 from 1 to 5 pm MTN.

Should be fun to watch although I'm disappointed Sabonis isn't taking part. I've seen him all over the place on draft boards

Guess he feels his performance against Utah is enough to guarantee him a high pick.

A ton of guys there I'm excited about. Maker most of all. I expect him to be underwhelming however.

Jakob Poeltl is going to fly up draft boards after the combine. Krystkowiak said that Poeltl had a 38 in vertical and was the most athletic big he has coached. NOW, I get that K has something to sell, but if what he says is true, and a 7 footer can move and jump like that...Poeltl might jump up to the top 5, maybe even to the third pick.

Could you imagine a front court of the Brow and Poeltl? Deadly.

Anyways, it will be fun to see how he tests out.

That would be incredible, I thought Poeltl would be sliding because of the demand for stretch bigs who can defend on the perimeter. I was beginning to wonder what the Jazz would do if Poeltl slid past the 11th pick.

Best player available? You take him. Your offseason is all about upgrading Booker, Burke, Pleiss and Johnson by whatever means possible. Poeltl still fits that criteria. Pull the trigger, get talent into the building and let Quin and Company sort out the details.

I don't anticipate Jakob being on the board at #12 but if he is, he's likely to be BPA and I imagine we'd take him. He'd be a much better 4th big than Withey or Booker.

I'd take him too because as good as Gobert is, he has a lot of holes in his game.

If you can get a seven footer that can play 70% of the defense Gobert plays but can score in the post and average 18 a night, you move on from Gobert.

5 feet. He is crazy athletic, dominate on the post, but never steps out for the little jumper.

If he tests as well as Krystkowiak says he will, he is a more polished post scorer Favors.

He is nothing like Favors...

I'm sure he can go beyond 5 feet. He just never had to at Utah, because he could score at will in the post. No one could stop him down there and was crazy proficient in the post.

Yahoo article describing today's interview process: LINK

Once the NBA finalizes the participant list, teams then vote for the prospects they would like to interview.

Teams can only select 30 players and must place an A, B or C grade based on preference. Out of the 30, 18 players will be selected.

Teams often pick prospects to interview that fall outside of their draft range.

A team like the Clippers, who have picks Nos. 25 and 33, should focus on players whose range is in the top 15. With the challenge of getting lottery prospects to commit to a draft visit, the combine interview will be the only time for a one-on-one visit...

and

Interviews start on Wednesday afternoon (2 p.m.-8 p.m. ET) with a shorter time frame on Thursday and Friday morning (8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. ET)
The process is intimidating for prospects, beginning with the room.
The hotel furniture is removed and replaced with a circular table with a note pad and hotel pens. The space looks more like an interrogation room than a hotel room.

I predict some of these players will be very good.
I also predict some of the others will not be so good.

Chad Ford: Buddy Hield won’t be at Combine on Thur/Fri. Graduating this weekend. Doing interviews, medical & measurements today. But no athletic test.
