It depends on how you value SGA vs the Lakers assets. I think a lot of people would view him as having more value than any Lakers young player. My trade gives them that and more picks (the LA picks won't be good either and the most they can get from them is 3). The downside of my deal for NOLA is that the other young assets are kind of meh. Some people really like Smith though, and Robinson had his fans as well.

Rubio isn't getting that much. My guess is he would top out at 15 per year, but probably get 12-13 per year.

It just takes one team to outbid us. Phoenix is a strong candidate; they have Igor, the cap space, and the need. Rubio will likely be in demand-plenty of teams that need PG's have more cap space than us and can pay him a lot more. I could be wrong but given that and the recent re-signing history of Favor/Exum/Ingles, and the improvements he's made since leaving Minnesota, he WILL get a raise. I guarantee it. He's making a shade under $14.8M this year-best case is he gets $16-17 for 3-4 years.

The point I'm making is that I'm not sure Ricky at that price is better than Conley for more money but fewer years. Neither will improve a lot if at all, but Conley raises the ceiling. IF Ricky walks, we're stuck trying to get Bledsoe, Dragic, Darren Collison, etc. (all downgrades for various reasons) for similar prices or more. Conley prevents that.

So what I'm arguing is Conley is a guaranteed improvement for fewer years. Ricky is a neutral move with a risk of losing out but for more money. Conley is likely to get us a higher playoff seeding and a more consistent offense, and his salary clears up when it's time to re-up Mitchell and Gobert.

What happens they get Conley. U have exum if he's playing better than Conley. U have a guy that is getting paid 35 mil on the bench. It's a terrible Idea

Highly unlikely buuuuuuuut

If that happens, we have a three headed monster of Mitchell/Exum/Conley at PG at SG. If one of them goes down with injury, we're not as screwed like we were when Ricky/Exum/Neto went down. Conley would still be a valuable trade chip and the contract expires when it's time to extend Mitch/Rudy/others.

Since I have free time, I've got to say this:

Jrue Holiday is not coming here. Other teams can offer better packages, and he's beloved in NO. We simply don't have the assets. For all the reasons we want him, he will not be traded here. NO knows they can do better. We DO NOT. HAVE. THE ASSETS.

And we know what we’re going to get from Conley, which is something very good but it won’t get us much further. I still think that the sky is the limit for Exum - if things eventually start going right for him - and that’s a big if - he deserves a shot at starting with DM in the back court.

We are not winning the championship this year. We all know that. 1st round. 2nd round. This year should be about internal improvements, and getting us in a financial position where we can go after a third star - or two very good players at the very least - when the timing is right. All of these lateral moves are pretty pointless.

I'm very pro Conley but not if it costs Exum, totally on board with all of this.

Lol this is a bit clickbaity. Lowe said theoretically the Jazz would be interested in a trade and they would be interested in free agency. Also said he thinks teams have called for Harris and got shut down. He also said that if he were the Clippers, he would be a seller at the deadline since getting the 8th seed isn't really worth losing your 1st round pick over (owed to Boston). Also wonders if Tobias would really re-sign if the Clippers strike out on big name free agents because he'd have to wait a few days into free agency to sign a contract since he would be a consolation prize.
