2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

And let’s face, if - when - LA gets Davis, the Lakers are going to be a big issue to deal with. It seems like most playoff bound teams have really swung for the fences recently - except us. Every team practically has added all-star quality talent. Except us. Will we ever pull the trigger?

I think that getting Harris asap should be the first step...

My only thought is why would the Clippers help us out. Couldn't they find a similar taker elsewhere in the East?
For a half year rental? The beauty of Favors is that he has that team option for next year. If you need him to be an expiring, he can do that too. You might get a slightly better pick, but not coupled with a serviceable player. You will get back something like a Plumlee on an inexplicable 3 year contact.

The most obvious trade in the world to me is Tobias to the Jazz for Favors and a protected first.

It’s the guy we want and need and in Favors it’s a dude they keep long term as a starting 5 and a pick for a guy who likely doesn’t wait around for them to see if they get the guy(s) they really want.

Am I taking crazy pills here?

GM'ing is tough stuff. Average Joes like you dont understand this. If it were that easy that Jazz would have done it already.

I'm not convinced the Lakers with LeBron + AD are demonstratively better than teams like the Rockets or the Warriors even if we assume Durant and/or Cousins leave, and it depends on the timeframe you mean by "recently" but I don't think many playoff teams in the West have done anything of late. Portland adding Rodney Hood is the only move I can think of and I'm pretty sure most of JF can figure out how that's going to go.

A half year rental that can turn into a 4 year contract.

You just asked if the Jazz will ever pull the trigger, then said they should go after Tobias Harris. That waa ironic because Harris isnt Allstar quality.

If you don't move for Conley, you trade our draft pick (if they don't want in the draft) for Niko. That way we have insurance if someone like Harris doesn't want to sign, and that insurance includes being able to bring back both Ricky and Niko without cap-scrambling... plus still having the MLE.

Lmao all of that and you think the Clippers are hung up trading SGA for Anthony Davis?
Look man, I was trying to be nice. A 4 team trade involving 10+ players, a ton of starters on current playoff teams and a ton of draft picks is a little freaking ridiculous.

Even though your trade does make everyone a little happy, its not realistic.
