What's new

2020 Presidential election

I'm interested in your opinion (and others for that matter). Where do you see AOC in 8 years?

She’s gorgeous, talented, smart, charismatic, empathetic, and a leader. I agree with most of her policies ideas. The sky is the limit for her. Being a minority and a woman is a plus going forward. I think she has a great story and a lot of diverse people (young people especially) identify with her. Her ability to connect on social media is unparalleled. Seriously, I’ve never seen anyone communicate as well through social media as she. If she can avoid major scandal, I’d expect her to be a major player in American politics for a long time.

I think her throwing her support behind Pelosi and now Biden is smart. She seems to be playing the long game well knowing that the Democratic Socialist time is coming. the stigma against socialism is already losing its impact. I don’t think millennials have the same fear against socialism as Boomers. For good reason too, people like AOC have seen two major economic collapses in one decade. We largely recognize the gigantic holes in health care and the social safety net. The pandemic has exposed the unfairness of our tax policy and inequality in our society that should be amended.

My only fear is that Fox News is going to do their best to demonize her for years until people’s perceptions of her override any factual analysis of her, exactly what they did to Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama to a certain extent. And honestly what they’ve done to trump. If it wasn’t for Fox News constantly worshipping trump, his numbers would be down to the mid 30s-20s by now. What Do you think?

her latest tweets are just brilliant and inspiring... AND DEAD ON

My own wife pointed this out to me. Both as pence did it in real time and AOC’s tweet. My wife works in finance and deals with misogynists like Pence everyday. So I think a lot of people, like my wife, Agreed with AOC here.

I also think she is a powerhouse. But she needs to slowly build her political capital within the democratic party (a lot of well-established members already waiting for their turn). And if she will moderate her views a bit in order to do that (affecting her base). Happens a lot to young, ambitious politicians (although she seems very capable of walking that fine line). I'm also wondering about the timing: she relates to young people now but she can't stay too long in the spotlight, otherwise the risk of being burnt by media/other political forces increases. Thanks for your elaborate reply.

You really don't have to look much further tyan the possible second debate moderator being on timeout for lying about his twitter getting hacked. The mind manipulator exposed himself and here Democrats are. They don't even recognize it.

Oh and nobody wants to talk about Biden forgetting Romney's name? How is that possible? Somebody explain to me how someone forgets the guy he ran against name?

Adding to me previous point, I also think healthcare reform will be her battleground and biggest point of emphasis in the next few years (it already is). It's an obvious problem most Americans can relate with (even more so with covid's impact in US)

“By the way, what you all know but most people don’t know, unlike the African American community, with notable exceptions, the Latino community is an incredibly diverse community with incredibly different attitudes about different things,”

This comment is racism by definition. One race being superior to another.

And you all vote for him.

Trump morally broke you. He dominated you. You are voting for everything you claim to be against. You are flat out hypocrites.

So, this Trump town hall is an absolute wreck. Recording Biden’s and will watch it later.

Dude can’t even denounce Qanon which is a softball.

And even though we'll never know, it would be interesting how Bernie/Warren would have stuck out this general. Biden does have an edge in that he's more moderate which probably does appeal to the disgruntled Republican/Independent voter who may simply be over Trumpism.

Even though I think Warren would have been a better choice, Biden was the safer choice. And the #1 goal should be exiting him - as far as 2024 goes, we'll see who spins out of the primary. I still think Biden is only going to serve one term, but it wouldn't be unheard of to go further. Dianne Feinstein and Chuck Grassley are both 87 now as was RBG so it's possible that if healthy, Biden will seek a second term.

That will be really interesting is the R side of the house. Will Pence try something out? I think he'd be swallowed up if Donny Jr. tries to give it a go or anyone from Trumpland. Nikki Haley or Ivanka could be a female face and you have a long line of people like Tom Cotton/Ted Cruz-types that will make a run.
I think Paul Ryan will get resurrected and run on the ol return to “fiscal conservativism.” And he has less Trump stain that most, which will be a plus. The suburbs will return in droves.

I voted for Trump. And a large part of the reason is that the entire campaign for Biden was "hey vote for me cuz I'm not Trump!".
That's not how you get my vote.
What was trumps entire campaign based off? Far as I can tell it was "hey vote for me cause im not biden" in the way it was based off "Biden will bring socialism" and "Bidens america will be a bunch of rioting and looting" (which is funny because its happening in trumps america)
What awesome things did he campaign on? Is mexico finally going to pay for that wall this time? Is america finally going to be great again this time? What is his plan for covid? What is his plan for healthcare? How about wealth inequality? How about the national debt? How about education? What is he going to do about the division in the country? Does he have a plan to try to bring us together? Does he even want that?

You explained that Biden simply not being trump is not how to get your vote. So how did trump get your vote? What was his magic campaign strategy? Was it the R next to his name on the ballot?

Why didn't you vote for a 3rd party candidate?
