I dont like how China handled the pandemic early. But they are really doing a great job now. Its too bad other countries dont do what they do to get it under control. The borders are now open in China but you have to be tested to enter the country and you have to do a 2 week quarantine once you are in. If there is any outbreaks in an area they test the entire city. They just did this in Qingdao, a city of 9 million. They didnt close anything or shut anything down. They tested everyone and quarantined the sick over the course of 3 days. I dont know why the USA cant do this and get back to relative normal. The USA has more money than any other country and their populations are no where near China.

Its pretty sad that USA never instituted any type of quarantine for incoming international travelers, especially from high risk places. The funny thing is that Trump still has a ban on Chinese people from coming in. Although I just met with one of the largest providers for ventilators in the world and they are having to travel to the USA a lot. I felt bad for the guy, he has had to take 4 trips to the USA over the last few months. Every time he comes back he has to do a 2 week quarantine. China now makes you have both types of tests if you are coming from the USA within 48 hours of your flight, which is very hard to do. A lot of places arent getting you your results that fast, which is also crazy.

Here if you want a test you can go to any hospital and without insurance it costs about $10 and takes 4 hours to get the results back.

4 hours? My brother in Utah had to take a test for a surgery. It took him 4 days of waiting to hear back, didn’t get a response, so then he called them and they told him that they had lost his test. The surgeon just decided to screw it and performed the surgery to correct his deviated septum.

but sure, we have the best health care system in the world...

As someone involved in education, I can tell you that in Utah it’s taking days not hours, for students and educators to get test results back. Without strict quarantining and mask enforcement, that’s one of the reasons why it’s spreading out of control here.

Did he stay at home until he got his test result?

That’s another problem. People waiting for their test results don’t get their bills put on pause. A competent administration would’ve provided financial aid for workers waiting for tests or forced into quarantine. It’s too much to ask someone to miss work for a virus that may kill them for a situation that is guaranteed to kill them financially.

I posted this in the wrong thread, oh well. That's crazy to take that long.

It's crazy to see the differences in health care between USA and China. Some of the things are much better here, some are much worse.
 
The realities of the testing process in the USA is ****ing chock full of smoking guns. All signs point to near total abdication of executive responsibility; and then there’s all the clamor of separate moments of responsibilization further down leadership structures. A lot of people have done remarkable work, but, in general, it’s been a chicken with the head cut off.

Ya he stayed home. Our company is really good about covid. He got paid while waiting for the results at home.

Two possible explanations: (1) the virus was designed to destroy caucasians, blacks and Hispanics as part of a plot for Asian domination; or 2). Asians have shown leadership, patriotism and sustained discipline in their strategy to combat the virus
