Will an impeachment hearing affect the general election?

Not sure what you're asking here but I haven't voted since my step mom forced my naive *** in 05 or 06.
There's been a suggestion that the Impeachment Inquiry will have a severe negative impact on votes for Democratic candidates.

The poll is sort of a BS way of trying to see what the impact might be.

Democrats took back the house in no small part thanks to voters who were tired of watching Trump act with impunity thanks to the inability of Congress to hold him accountable.

If the House Democrats failed to change this after securing the means to do so I believe it would have led to a more apathetic base.

I don't think there will be a huge change in voter turnout. I do think that the swing voters would be more likely to swing Democratic if there was an impeachment.

That appears to be what happened in the 2000 election. A few of the swing states that went to Clinton in 96 went to Bush in 2000.

Of course this will be the first time in our nation's history a president will simultaneously be facing impeachment proceedings and running for re-election.

My God, what a **** show.

Seems to me that a normal rational human would see the impeachment inquiry as a negative thing for Trump and therefore move more votes toward the Democratic candidate.
However I said normal rational human which is not usually a way to describe a partisan voter. I'm sure there will be plenty of partisan voters who will just double down and see this as an attack on themselves, rather than what it actually is, and throw even more support behind Trump

Similar to how if you call some people deplorable then they will find the most deplorable candidate and vote for them out of spite. Would be nice to see voters use now logic and rational reasoning in determining who they vote for but as we have seen that doesn't seem to be how people vote.

What if there is an attempted impeachment but not an actual impeachment? How do you think the swing voters would vote in that scenario?

Would be awesome if trump simply resigned and dropped out of the race without being impeached.

I long for a president that isn't in the headlines very often. A quiet presidency. A boring presidency. If the president's name isn't popping up all the time then he/she is probably doing a good job.

I'm not sure what an "attempted impeachment" is, but I doubt Pelosi calls on the House to vote for impeachment without being absolutely sure of the vote.

However, if the pre-impeachment hearings wind up leading to nothing, I don't see a big effect on the vote.
