2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Just simply talking shooting and all it's forms (pull up, mid-range, 3pt, off the catch, movement, ft, etc).

I just think it's simply BS that anyone is labeling JHS a "bad" shooter. Not to say he is great or elite, but the indicators are clearly there that he is capable and it shouldn't be viewed as a negative.
I'd label him an inefficient scorer more than a bad shooter. Its that he doesn't get to the rim or foul line and his shot profile is bad. He'd have to be insanely good to make his shot profile efficient... and he was fine.

I just think at #9 its an obvious reach but we will see.

Tim Cato from The Athletic:

Dallas is currently committed to $108.7 million in player contracts next season, which would rise near that dreaded second apron (projected to be $179.5 million) if Irving is re-signed at the max. It’s why the team’s summer rebuild must begin with players like Hardaway and Bertāns being shipped out to make room for further moves, and why the No. 10 pick is almost certainly going to be dealt — quite possibly with Bertāns’ contract attached to it — while the team prefers keeping Green and Hardy, two players on rookie-scale contracts who can provide rotation minutes next season.

This is where we come in.

10 + Bertans for 16

What if Dallas wanted us to take Bertans and THJ salary with 10 attached but we keep 16?
I might do it... THJ is fine when healthy... still overpaid but not crazy and I could see a team giving up an expiring later in the year as everyone needs shooting. Just not sure what the other trade up options and cap space options are so its tough to say yes right now. In a vacuum... I'd do it probably.

I would do it as well. We could throw Gay in there too I’m sure.

THJ salary actually declines every year. It’s 17.9M this year and 16.2M next year.
Guys like him oscillate in value wildly too. I could see him having an awesome 35 games for us being healthy and then a team offering up a minor asset and an expiring to add a shooter.

Bertans deal is bad and he's basically a end of bench, injury fill in guy. Just gonna have to ride that one out... Its a ton of flexibility to give up, but its a high level pick and we might end up signing a bad deal in FA anyway.

Bertans is only 5M guaranteed next year though so basically an expiring.
