2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Son I watched a lot of their games. IF GG played as a team player they would have been much better. His teammates regularly outperformed him on both ends with little to no help from him.

They didn't. And if anything, the attention that GG was drawing gave the team the only floor spacing it had all season. The only capable ball mover on the team was Wright.

Hes a level or two from dawg for me, but is promising and I dont think he will be an awful defender at the NBA level. The lack of mass is a bit concerning.
He trailed off in intensity toward the end of the season but as a freshman and running off screens as much as he did made him less effective than earlier in the year on the defensive side.

But his first 15 games or so the kid was in it on both sides of the ball. Enough for us to know he totally can.

Another reason why I lean more towards the older guys instead of the highly rated recruits who dropped, I believe in early and late bloomers. If you were at the top of your class and lost ground, I think it's much more likely that you were a late bloomer. OTOH, if you made massive improvements through college there's a better chance you're a late bloomer.

Besides GG, I think Dariq Whitehead is another example of this principle. I don't see him as a high potential prospect despite coming in as the number one recruit. I do like him more than GG, however, because he has a better body of work to suggest he can be a role player. If GG had more role player potential I wouldn't mind drafting him, but his defense, physical tools, and attitude leave a lot to be desired.

Dillion Mitchell doesnt even really try to do anything skill related on the court. He just exist to make a handful of highlight athletic plays per game. Will be interesting to see if he stays if he attempts anything outside of his very limited comfort zone.
