Iffy conference and the tape doesn't get super exciting compared to some dudes. IDK... maybe its also like HS pedigree (not sure where he was ranked in HS).

I could see him going anywhere in the 20-35 range.

4-star recruit with offers from Kentucky and Kansas.

Is the conference any more iffy than what Hendricks played in? Hendricks doesn’t have the HS pedigree either. His numbers blow away third year Jalen Williams at the same school who just went 12th and finished 2nd in ROY.

Was just throwing some possible explanations out there. Looking through their schedule there were quite a few WTF University games… UCF is similar but I think Hendricks has the physical traits that will get him more attention. I think white guard who is 6-4 or 6-5 playing in a meh conference is likely going to get overlooked a bit. Not saying that’s how it should be… just saying that might explain it.

That’s the only thing I can think of is people think he will measure at 6’4 w/o shoes and a short wingspan. He would have to be a PG to not be undersized at SG. Maybe that’s where it is coming from.

He has some marks of a good sleeper. 16 feels like a reach still as I think you could get him in the early 20s… prolly gone by 28… I’d say it’s like 50/50ish right now.

It seems like there are several guys each year that seem like they should be consider in the late teens and they slide to second round…

That’s the thing though, the Cavs didn’t really make a poor decision. They took a flier and got 2nds and what they sent out was an expiring player that they weren’t going to retain. The Cavs decision was fine, giving Exum a second contract was insanity.

Ya my main point was that whatever trade happened or didnt and whatever contract was given or wasnt says nothing to me about if a player was a bust or not.
The only criteria i use is how well he played/produced for the tram that drafted the player vs where they were drafted.

Exum was drafted high and sucked major ***. Bust. I care not if he got a second contract, how long he was in the league for or who or what he was traded for. He a bust.

Its partly the left handed thing... but I could also see some Goran Dragic and Beno Udrih on offense. @Saint Cy of JFC mentioned Ty's size... and he does have t-rex arms.

I think Podz looks like a good vertical athlete when he loads up... like had a few blocks from behind. He just looks like he sees the floor so well on defense and I think he can survive that way. Kinda got stuck on some screens but may end up being a plus on defense if he's a pg.

His slowness stood out on some of his drives and maybe its him being more deliberate but some quick floaters and drives where he can't quite get to the ideal spot were where I had concerns. Like does nba athleticism and length eat him up or is he athletic and skilled enough to do some version of what he was doing in college.

I need to think of some cross race comps.

Maybe Goran when he was older later in his MIA tenure, but Goran in his PHX days was really great at getting to the basket which is a weak spot for Podz. The high end outcome I see is something like Desmond Bane. I think Bane is more physical and Podz maybe more of a PG. But he's one of the first guys I thought of with the T-Rex arms and off the dribble shooting.

There are so many guys who weren't considered high potential because of their supposed physical deficiencies, Bane was one of them.

Ty Jerome did. Podz has solid size and length.

I was thinking post prime Goran but pre-washed Goran...

Bane is interesting as a comp but I think he was faster than I expect Podz to be and strong like bull.

Alright... here are some names I looked at...

Luke Kennard... Podz a better defender but I could see this one a little on offense.
Derrick White... White had better block numbers but maybe Podz has some of the smart defender and a better shooter.
D'Angelo Russell - Again I think the defense is better but size and potential athletic limitations may be close. Podz seems like he has more bounce.

Those were some of the shades of guys I could see if Podz is successful.
