2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Also dont think you draft a guy like Lewis with the idea that he's going to be a dude you develop into a first/second option, but his tools are tantalizing for a role player. Shrink his role a bit, let him focus on the basics and not necessarily 1-on-1 scoring or being a primary handler.

Lewis has arguably the best tools for a more guard oriented wing outside of the lottery. According to the No Ceilings dudes, he was a 44% catch and shoot 3pt shooter. His shot looks beautiful to me. The biggest issue for him offensively was simply shot selection, but that happens when you are the best player on a terrible team with no junior/senior leadership. The No Ceilings dudes are pretty high on him and said everyone they have talked to that has seen him workout has raved about his jumper

He's a work in progress.

6'6.25 w/o shoes, 7' wingspan, 8'8.5 standing reach, 36.5'' max vertical.

Their entire rotation was comprised of Freshman/Sophomores w/ one senior off the bench. Lorenzo Romar is a noted terrible head coach (9-22 record, 2-16 record in the PAC-12 with Fultz and Thybulle./ 5-13 in PAC-12 with McDaniels/Stewart). There's enough context there to explain the roughness and be optimistic for the future. I ranked him 23 last time I did rankings, and IDK if I can really move him up much further, but I'm more intrigued than I remember.
i mean, i guess most of these guys are works in progress. you really can't completely dismiss any of them. but i put him in the same boat as gg jackson. sure, he sucks at basketball, but since he's only a teenager, i guess he could become good. and yeah, at 28, whatevs. shoot your shot.

there will be other guys at that spot i'd rather have but the chances of anybody panning out at 28 are so slim, but why not. take him and hope for the best.

pepperdine won 2 games total in WCC play. in one of the games lewis played a season low 22 minutes - scored 5 points on 2-5 shooting. iow, they basically won because he hardly played.

in the other game, they won in spite of him. he went 4-16 FGs for 12 points. maybe he was hurt or something down the stretch of the season. that would make me feel better about taking a guy, who when your favorite team played against his team, you wanted him in the game as and involved in the game as much as possible.

there is a reason maxwell lewis isn't talked about much. just the fact his name gets mentioned means he's talked about enough. probably more than enough.
Yada, Yada, Yada.......tell me about his hand pads.

I'm starting to think Cam Whitmore will go at #4 or #5, and the Jazz won't have a chance to get him. Then the question will be whether it's worth still trading up to #6 for Jarace Walker, or if the Jazz are better off staying at #9. It obviously depends on how high the Jazz are on Walker.
I think I'm in the boat where I would love to have Walker, but wouldn't want to give up significant assets to get him.

Walker is fine at 9, but I don't think he is worth what it takes to move up. I'd only consider giving up more than one of #9, #16, and a future first for Wemby, Scoot, Miller, Cam, or either Thompson. I'd give up 9 and 28 for Hendrix though. Otherwise just stay at 9 and pick whoever falls from above or take Walker, Black, Wallace, Bufkin, or Leonard Miller.
